Hello, I stumbled on this site yesterday and have already put my question in the wrong place! (Thank you Barry Allen for putting me right.)

Anyway, I am relatively new to the Law of Attraction which of course brings up all kinds of questions. One came up when I tried to describe it to my mum once; she wanted to know how it would apply to people suffering desperate poverty in Africa for example.

I read the responses to a similar question and while I appreciate what has been said about different cultural values and standpoints, I still wonder about those who are quite obviously suffering from poverty, like the starving people we see on adverts for charities?

How can LOA explain such dire circumstances, particularly ones which affect thousands of people at once in the same place?

Do they somehow all have the same subconscious thoughts?

Why would they have attracted such a life? Somehow it seems to make a mockery of the concept that just changing their thinking they could somehow find abundance in a place wracked by drought. How can that situation ever be changed?

Great question, and a very compassionate one. I don't have any answers for you, and I'd be most interested to watch this thread with you for opinions. Btw, welcome to Inward Quest! It's a great place to hang out :)

There is alot of information about Collective Consiousness in the book "Conversation with God" by Neale Donald Walsch, however it is not free, but perhaps you can find a way to obtain it in whatever form you like(if you are a bit familiar with the Internet, I'm sure you can.) Also it is a very nice book(also available in audio form by the way.) about the LOA. Just wanted to let you know, goodluck!

Thank you Milanz; I actually gave my mum that book some years ago so not too hard to get hold of! :)

You can also find related information in the book "The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events" (A Seth Book).

Most of you are not going to be satisfied with this answer and I'm sure it will lead to more questions.

The only way to understand this injustice in humanity is to see it as a bigger picture.

In the bigger picture we are a gathering of souls forming the human species and in that perspective we are collectively manifesting our individual and group experience.

But it is a holographic foundation that forms the basis of choices from which our free will is able to make up our seemingly free existence.

In the bigger picture all of our consciousness has the same foundation from which we can pick and choose what it is that we want to give attention to.

within this shared foundation everything is an equation of balance that can be loosely understood as cause and effect (but it is really an emergence of "something" and the opposite of "that same something" from the pure void of un-manifest potential)

In this equation everything that is the cause creates an effect and everything that is an effect creates a cause.

The suffering in the world and our compassion to do something about are both intertwined in this cause and effect equation.

Now we as a species may not have been originally responsible to insert this equation into our matrix of consciousness.

However once this choice was made available to us within our collective consciousness, we are the only ones who could make this experience physically manifest as reality among our fellow brothers and sisters. (At least this is how it seems we are creating our experience).

So where is our collective experience heading in the near future?

Look at what is available within your own consciousness for that is the source from which everyone is making their free will choices.

For the most part we are not thinkers, we are listeners.

We listen and we interpret that which we listen into a dialog that makes sense to the circumstances that we have chosen in this lifetime, which then we describe as thinking.

Theoretically two people can listen to the exact same thing and convert that into slightly different and unique thought. (Because of individual circumstances)

So what you give attention to within your consciousness affects all of humanity in a tiny tiny way.

Look at your shared consciousness as the same as the shared physical reality.

In our shared physical space if you drive down an abandoned road and come to a fork in the road without any signposts YOU could make the effort to discover the destinations of each fork and create a large sign so that the future travellers can be guided by your effort.

You can do that same thing within consciousness.

Each of us in a small way affect the collective thought forms.

The suffering in this world has many components that are upholding and perpetuating the continued existence of that choice.

Our compassion and sorrow is a balancing energy within this equation.

When you grab and hold on to any portion of that equation, you help uphold the entire experience. (We are talking consciousness here, not the physical result)

As you have continued sorrow and compassion within your consciousness for what is going on, you are manifesting your end of participation within the bigger picture of suffering.

Therefore for you to have what you are manifesting the other half of that equation has to exist as well and the opportunity for more horror and suffering emerges into the un-manifest potential, waiting for volunteers to participate in the physical actualization of that energy.

The more you have compassion and want to participate in making it go away, the more suffering becomes available to balance your desire to do something about it.

Now here comes the big misunderstanding.

If you are NOT familiar with the paradox within the law of attraction you will likely say "ARE YOU SAYING THAT I MUST JUST IGNORE THIS SUFFERING? SHAME ON YOU"

Of course that is not what I'm suggesting.

I'm asking you to ask yourself "what am I doing in my mind while I help humanity with this suffering"

Because that is the key to everything.

If you help humanity's suffering by visualizing the suffering that is moving you, you are adding more un-manifest suffering to balance out your outpouring of compassion that is intertwined with the suffering.

HOWEVER, if you help humanity's suffering by visualizing the joy and normalcy that is sure to follow after the suffering is over, you are feeding the "end of suffering" half of the equation into collective consciousness.

If each and every one of us start to do this (that is refuse to visualize further suffering while working towards ending suffering), we will create a huge overbalance of "the end of suffering" within the collective consciousness and it will create a huge un-manifest potential to balance out our collective expectation.

It will force humanity to find volunteers to balance out the un-manifest potential of Joy and normalcy, causing seemingly natural and normal events to emerge and fulfill the un-manifest tension within our collective consciousness.

Those who read outside of the usual sources for how humanity is manipulated will understand that this is the exact method by which our free will has been used against us.

We can wake up from this madness but it is up to each and every one of us.

Each of us is responsible for the collective database of consciousness.

When you stop suffering you are helping the rest to stop suffering.

When you help stop suffering, don't imagine the suffering.

Imagine what it is like after the suffering has ended, for this is the intended purpose of your participation.

As you do this you will create a tiny signpost for the rest of humanity.

You will become the change for humanity to follow.

It must become so within your own consciousness. (individually) And if we each do this individually to beyond 51% of our population humanity will catch up to it.

Thank you Traveller for taking the time to reply in such depth - I have had to read it several times but I think I understand now! Does this mean that large scale suffering cannot be reduced or eliminated until enough people understand this concept of collective consciousness and how it affects everything though?

(28 Dec '10, 15:30) aquamarine

I'm sorry if this is getting a little deep: If you choose that your reality will no longer be one of suffering, you will branch off (gradually) into the alternate simultaneous reality where your present and future re-incarnational self already exists, towards which your living (physical actualization) soul identity will begin to shift its existence as your "NOW". (While parts of you that still chose to exist in suffering will be energy constructions that will still exist). In this particular time in history you are being given that choice to branch off (and you are ready for it)

(28 Dec '10, 18:17) The Traveller

Continued: If you were not ready for this transition (dimensional shift), your soul would not have lead you to this place to ask these questions. But you need to work on you self NOW. You opportunity is only as long as this life time. Do something, anything, towards awakening yourself to what is going on every day. Ask only the questions your soul is seeking from within you. (The other stuff won't make much difference for your journey) And when I say ask I'm not saying post it here, I'm saying ask your soul to guide you towards the answer.

HAs to be one of the most understandable answer i have ever read here. It resonates with me and where I am at in my development. Thank you Mr. Traveler. Thank you very much.

Hi Traveller, I'm interested to know and read "outside of the usual sources" that you mentioned in your answer. Can you share more about that please?

(29 Dec '10, 01:01) Pat W

Hi Pat: You are asking me to help you open the Pandora’s box. I opened it for myself because I felt ready to handle it. I asked to be shown all that is hidden from view. The average person will be too distracted and devastated by what they discover, and it will affect their spiritual path. So I don't recommend that you spend time looking there. If you are ready for it Your inner guidance will lead you to it. Believe me; you don't really need to go there to prepare your consciousness for the next stage in our evolution.

(29 Dec '10, 01:24) The Traveller

Continued: (Hi Pat) To be consistent with the energy with which the main answer was written, Time is too short to spend on areas that will not help you with the preparation of your consciousness. Spend time instead on working within silence and clarity while the world begins to become more and more chaotic. Your ability to handle the chaos will depend on your sense of calmness and balance. Simplicity is the key. Simplicity is not having or knowing a lot of stuff. It is to center yourself in calmness within your immediate needs.

(29 Dec '10, 01:52) The Traveller

Added later: Pat, I'll explain what I was referring to in a different way. In Asia, when elephants are trained to be domesticated they are psychologically and physically broken down until eventually only a small rope is required to keep the elephant tied to a post. The elephant can break the rope any time but the rope is psychological and the elephant is unable to break it. Our collective consciousness is psychologically trapped with all this mainstream (media) data feeding us a constant diet of lower astral energy to keep us in the 3rd dimension. And it appears to be intentional.

(29 Dec '10, 05:29) The Traveller

Thanks, Traveller. Yeah, I don't know if I'm ready. :) May I know what would happen if we are not prepared for the next stage of evolution?

(30 Dec '10, 15:52) Pat W

Nothing! This shift is so gradual that you won't see a change. Theoretically you will have many thousands of years of continued re-incarnation in this very place that you are already familiar with; so, like I said, you will experience no change. There is a theory that if you worship the Devil you will experience hell on earth, and similarly if you envision heaven on earth, that earth will change to a better place. Let's choose our God and find out what happens. The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm not worshiping the devil.

(30 Dec '10, 20:21) The Traveller

Hmmm. Ok. Will muse about this over the holiday weekend. Thanks, Traveller! Always love reading your answers. :)

(31 Dec '10, 03:30) Pat W

Pat: One of the reasons why I push the envelope well beyond the edge of "Verifiable truth" in my answers is to allow others to trust the curiosity that is awakening within them to read all kinds of "Unverifiable" information. It is to shatter the "how do I know if this is right or true" trap and venture beyond it. For most mainstream people the concept is unthinkable. If you are an artist how do you know if your inspiration is right? I have trusted my instincts since childhood. I look at both sides and let my instincts decide which "feels" right (for now)

I got these from my daily A-H quotes and I know I have Abraham talk about Jerry's wanting to fix the world (Ask and it is given?)
Here is a couple quotes.

Don't worry about this world; it is not broken. And don't worry about others. You worry more about them than they do. There are people waging war; there are people on the battlefield who are more alive than they've ever been before. Don't try to protect people from life; just let them have their experience while you focus upon your own experience.

--- Abraham

Excerpted from the workshop in Tarrytown, NY on Saturday, May 8th, 2004 #650
Make lists of positive aspects. Make lists of things you love—and never complain about anything. And as you use those things that shine bright and make you feel good as your excuse to give your attention and be who-you-are, you will tune to who-you-are, and the whole world will begin to transform before your eyes. It is not your job to transform the world for others—but it is your job to transform it for you. A state of appreciation is pure Connection to Source where there is no perception of lack.

Think of it this way, Post questions that will help you to live your best life. That is where you will have a chance to make some big changes. Whenever you prosper you help all of humanity. Sorry I couldn't go deeper but I am not as versed as The Traveler. After the first monkey learned to wash his food in the stream, others began to follow. After 100 monkeys learned this then all the monkeys on the surrounding islands started to wash their food. Since we are more evolved than monkeys will change everything in time. For me, this can only mean I must work on myself to help others. Many Blessings

Hi Tom. Thank you for mentioning the 100th Monkey reference. Here is a page (the rest of the site is in German) that talks about other experiments including the monkey experiment. http://www.quantum-computing-programming.com/MORPHOGENETICA.html Also you can see the Wikipedia treatment of discrediting the same information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundredth_monkey_effect An open and discerning mind will see both versions and not be pressured to take a stand on either side and defend the other.

(29 Dec '10, 04:59) The Traveller

@The Traveller, Thanks for you answer to the question. I didn't get all of it, But I understood the highlights and the important ideas.

(29 Dec '10, 15:07) Tom

Personally, I think you need to rephrase your question to something more positive and productive in order to help this group of people constructively example: (“How can we teach a large group of suffering people the LOA to help them improve their standard of living?”)

If you are concerned about sharing your wealth with does that have less, then you can do so by volunteering to help them learn how to manifest their desire using the LOA. For instance, take a trip to this group Community, donate books on the LOA, give seminars, and educate them on how to live a more prosperous and productive life, and how to avoid the inconvenience of poverty!

Also realistically, these people will all find their own paths in life applying the LOA to manifest their desire. Bear in mind people that are suffering do have the same thought patterns as each and every one of us such as: self improvement, and acquiring wealth. (All humans have the desire to create, and manifest, regardless of their circumstances.) You have to understand that poor people are real people living in unfortunate conditions due to their financial instability to prosper!

Are you a millionaire? Do you ever dream of becoming a millionaire? Many of these suffering people also have these big dreams, hopes, and aspirations in their lives!
