Maybe a better way of saying this is that the subconscious mind does not perceive the dualistic reality, that we experience with our five senses. The subconscious does not know the difference between good and bad, big and small, up and down... And this is what makes it so immensely powerful.

You can imagine it as a fertile soil that will nourish any seed (i.e. conscious thought) that you put into it. Just as the soil doesn't care whether the seed of a rose, an apple tree or weed is planted, the subconscious mind does not care if you "seed" thoughts that you perceive to be good or bad - it will nourish all of them equally and will eventually bring them into your experience. Therefore we can say that the subconscious doesn't know (dualistic) reality.

Toshiro:

Darn, I believe the comments section would have been the perfect spot for such a discussion as I was personally looking to see more of your dialogue with Adel & flowingwater and perhaps even get involved in an open discussion, but I digress. Thank you for the output we see above !

Reality is actual being or existence as opposed to imaginary. Imaginary is existing in the mind not in reality.( Microsoft Works Dictionary.

Brain researchers have determined there are no filters in the subconscious levels of our brain to distinguish the difference between imagination or reality and therefore everything is believed to be real.

Scientific research has shown our subconscious mind has no filters and it operates 800 times faster than the conscious mind. Think about this for a minute 800 times faster.

Every belief you currently have acts as a filter, effectively blocking out any realities not in harmony with your beliefs.

Your subconscious brain cannot tell the difference between real and imagined!

Whatever you are thinking or telling yourself, the subconscious believes it to be true and works outside of your conscious awareness to prove you are right.

Our subconscious mind does not distinguish between negative and positive!

This means whenever you are focusing on something you don’t want, the subconscious believes it is something you DO WANT.

There is a Chinese proverb that explains this quite eloquently:

•Watch your thoughts: they become words.

•Watch your words; they become actions.

•Watch your actions; they become habits.

•Watch your habits; they become character.

•Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

All thought is generated from the mind, both conscious and subconscious. Your conscious mind (dominant) is the means by which, the subconscious receives it's information, stores it, and goes to work to attract, create, or bring into the physical world, what you come to know as your truth or reality, resulting in your day to day life experiences.

The subconscious mind makes no determination or judgment concerning the validity of the data or information it receives. It is designed as the storage facility to store whatever data is given to it which can be accessed for later use and accepts as fact whatever the conscious mind sends to it. In other words unlike the conscious mind which can analyze and make a determination or judgment concerning if the data it analyzes has any meaning or truth to it, the subconscious mind has no logical or rational reasoning capability whatsoever.

It's really an amazing example of how we can twist reality to fit our beliefs. here is what we believe : the subconscious mind is absolute in power, knowledge and wisdom. at the same time, our limited conscious mind is in full control of this ''God-within''. ( this is a belief - may or may not be true ). now, the logical question : how an absolute mind like that could be controlled by a limited ( some times totally stupid ) conscious mind ? .. so, we had to invent the idea or belief that our absolute subconscious mind can not tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined !!! .. at the same time, they would tell you how to contact this subconscious to know things that didn't even happen yet. they would tell you how to contact the subconscious to get a solution to any problem, an answer to any question. but .. this infinite intelligence within us .. for some reason .. can't understand the difference between what is imagined and what is real. :-) if you asked anyone , what do you say about someone who can't tell the difference between reality and imagination, they would answer - without even thinking about it - he would be crazy !! .. so what we got here is : infinite - but crazy - intelligence. people will use every trick in the book to spread this idea. why? .. because our belief that we are in control, is more powerful than our belief that our subconscious mind is absolute. one must change to fit the other. the choice was very clear but the result was funny: the subconscious is like an All Mighty God with a mind of an ant. that's what I call a miracle :-) with all respect to all people who believe this miracle .. I don't !

Hey, Adel. I enjoy reading original opinions, they make me think deeper on the subject. I see that you don't believe in the common description of the subconscious mind, but you can add even more value by telling us what you DO believe.//I agree that the subconscious mind seems very stupid...by human standards. But is it correct to apply human standards to it? Should we label it as crazy just because it cannot judge?//A belief can be helpful or harmful. If it's useful then we can keep it and use it, even if it's not Absolute Divine TRUTH.

Adel your conscious mind by repetition of what you think and speak and add emotions which makes it more powerful considers it to be truth or reality. Example it is like watching an movie that you like an you get angry, scared, or very sad while watching it you already know it is not real it is only an movie because at that moment it is real to you and you have tap into your subscious mind in alpha state this is where you correct or change old habits, beliefs to what is real now according to your conscious mind thinking. They say watch tv or reading an book, or driving does hyponois to you.

(05 Nov '09, 18:51) flowingwater

I was watching an documentary about the study of the brain a few years back about these women who had phobias to correct the problem they went inside the brain with an instrument an barely touched a certain point an she was scared to death, change just an little an she was very happy, or very sad and continue on so you see her reality had not changed but her proception of her reality had changed. So your subscious mind is an data store house of information and it does not judge it as it recieves it. It leaves that up to the conscious mind to do that. Adel

(05 Nov '09, 19:02) flowingwater

They put an control switch on her chest to control her happiness. It took the doctor 3 months to get it adjusted to where she wouldn't feel overly happy. Now I saw this this is real what they are doing. I feel this is dangerous in the wrong hands of controling your happiness, fears, depressions, phobias, desires, emotions. So her perceptions of reality can be change according to what lens she was looking through now has reality change NO just her way of seeing it has through her brain, conscious mind, and subscious mind. By the way she was woke while they done on this to her brain.Adel

(05 Nov '09, 19:17) flowingwater

This is some of the latest information that they have about the brain so far later on it will be added on to or delete that is the way information is acepted as true or real until new data is added to say other wise. You already know once you change the way you feel on the inside for the better the whole world looks better to you. You have an smile on your face an a brisk step in your walk now has the reality of the world change NO just your perceptions of it has changed and I am going this information by my own personal experiences. Adel

Hi Toshiro, here is what I believe : beliefs are ALWAYS harmful. absolute divine TRUTH does NOT exist. the subconscious mind is NOT crazy or stupid at all, it's more wise, intelligent and powerful than we think. but it's not absolute in anyway. the crazy and stupid part of our mind is the conscious mind. the one with personality and ego. when we realize that this ''thinking'' machine is not all there is, we will pass the gate and enter the kingdom of heavens! .. but, there must be a sacrifice. nothing comes without a price. no reaction without action.

(06 Nov '09, 03:18) Adel

Hi, Yes I agree with what you said. but that doesn't mean that our subconscious doesn't know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. it's our conscious mind. when we get emotional or relaxed, our conscious mind would accept anything without argue, that's when we get a reaction from the subconscious mind. not because it doesn't know the difference, but because it must react. later, it will resist. it will try to make it clear to us that what we had experienced was imagined. not real. it will try to warn us, giving us signs and clues.

The conscious mind is used by the subconscious. not the other way around. the subconscious is the real mind. the real consciousness. the conscious mind is only a window with a view to the world, this view is what we call personality. when this personality dies .. the subconscious becomes free. there is an old saying : die before you die. it means to shut down the ego. ignore the mortal personality. that's when you become united with God, the universal mind, the super conscious mind. the organ of the conscious mind is the brain, the organ of the subconscious mind is the body.

(06 Nov '09, 03:39) Adel

not only the cells and nerves of the body .. but every atom of our existence. it's our true self. the conscious mind is part of the subconscious mind. the one that can't tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined - at some point - is the conscious mind. not the subconscious. it's very easy to mix between the two. because in reality, they are one mind. in reality, there is no conscious and subconscious .. there is only one consciousness. do you dream at night ? .. who is dreaming? who is making choices in your dreams and who is creating a new reality every time ?

(06 Nov '09, 03:47) Adel

the conscious mind is active in your dreams. just as it's active now while you are reading this. but the subconscious mind is fooling it. it's telling it to live the imagined reality. and it does. and at the right moment, it tells it to stop and wake up. this is against what most people believe, and I understand how disturbing it is. but that's what I believe. maybe right, maybe wrong. think about it and tell me ! happy dreams :-)

(06 Nov '09, 03:52) Adel

I was thinking of writing a long reply but instead I decided to give one of Wayne Dyer's great phrases a try: "You could be right" :) Actually part of me wants to continue the discussion but the comments section is obviously not the right format for such discussion.

This is a very interesting discussion. I'm sorry I missed it; although I wouldn't be able to add much other than my opinions, which don't really count for much. I've felt for a long time that Emile Coue and his autosuggestion method has much to offer to mental well being, the premise being that what has been implanted into the mind through repetition, can be removed (or corrected) using a similar technique. The question for me though is ..... how to do it. I suspect that, if improperly worded, these 'suggestion(s)' could have results quite the opposite to what is wished for. .... john

shinnen, our 'reality coefficient' would need to develop according how thins are, so the 'truth' can be consciously seen

(24 Nov '14, 06:47) fred

Quite simply, your subconscious mind is like a child, it accepts whatever it is told. It cannot differentiate between imagination and reality, and acts upon whatever it sees, hears, without question.
