I've suffered from a mental disability for a long time (many years) and I want to be free. Has anyone on here had success curing a mental illness and or disability? I have ocd as well as aspergers. To me there would be no greater freedom than to have my mental limitations gone once and for all. There is a lot of debate over the cause of many mental illnesses and disabilities. I was thinking that if everything is made of vibrations and if everything is a product of our inner world and if anything is possible then it might as well be possible to cure mental illness and be cured of a mental or even physical disability. I would appreciate any help or advice someone can give me. I've heard stories of how energy clearing has helped people with a traumatic past such as war veterans ect... I was thinking that a clearing technique, meditation or some other exercise could cure this once and for all. I've tried listening to healing frequencies as well but i'm not sure if it's worked out. I would be happy to hear some success stories as well.

@Jacob Ford - Yes, they are curable. The following book is a great place to start...and supplies more anecdotes than I could ever post:

Through decades of work treating patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Schwartz made an extraordinary finding: while following the therapy he developed, his patients were effecting significant and lasting changes in their own neural pathways. It was a scientific first: by actively focusing their attention away from negative behaviors and toward more positive ones, Schwartz's patients were using their minds to reshape their brains-and discovering a thrilling new dimension to the concept of neuroplasticity.

I can't speak to specific techniques off the top of my head, but the general idea is that you re-focus your mind on non-compulsive states of being and if you catch yourself slipping back to old OCD ways, re-focus yourself again. The brain begins to re-hardwire itself, and eventually the unwanted symptoms disappear.

The same author has published two other books (haven't read them myself) which appear to be more of a practical, how-to approach:

Thanks. I'll have to try that book out sometime. Thanks for sharing.

Those are all good books @lozenge123 & very good answer. I've heard the author interviewed on NPR - I'll try to find the the links when I get a chance.

I've suffered from a mental disability for a long time (many years) and I want to be free. Has anyone on here had success curing a mental illness and or disability?

I have a different take on this -- Why Label Yourself as Disabled?

alt text

Instead of thinking of aspergers or ocd as disabilities why don't you change your view? Why label yourself as disabled? There are many ppl who would say these are not disabilities - aspergers is a strength not a weakness - an asset not a liability.

Many view aspergers as a gift & to quote Dr Hans Asperger

"Not everything that steps out of line, and thus 'abnormal', must necessarily be 'inferior'"

"It seems that for success in science or art, a dash of autism is essential"

I think accepting your "awe" & embracing your talents & gifts by changing your beliefs will manifest major changes in the neural pathways mentioned by @releaser in his very good answer.

People with Aspergers are gifted in so many ways - very creative & extremely intelligent.

To quote S Dominica

"Some scientists say that it's not that they are geniuses, but just that they have such narrowed interests, and can be so focused on their work, that it helps them excel in that field. People with Asperger's have brought something to this world that was different and unique."

Isaac Newton, Lindberg, de Gauelle, Einstein, Henry Cavendish & Charles Babbage are just a few of the names of famous ppl listed in The book Genius Genes - How Asperger Talents Changed the World

In addition to the names I mentioned some of the others are Michelangelo, Andy Warhol, van Gogh, Allan Turing & Jonathan Swift as mentioned by the author of Asperger's Syndrome & High Achievement - Some Very Remarkable People

Marie Curie, Mozart & Carl Sagan are some of the famous ppl mentioned in this book - Asperger's and Self-Esteem - Insight and Hope through Famous Role Models

Here's another book

Natural Genius: The Gifts of Asperger's Syndrome

If you do a Google search, there is much speculation that ppl such as Al Gore & Bill Gates to many of today's famous musicians & actors have this syndrome. Here is one link

As for OCD - here's one link which shows many famous ppl including scientist such as Darwin, entrepreneurs such as Donald Trump & Howard Hughes as well as famous actors & artists & comedians.

It seems some of the most creative and gifted ppl in the world have this "blessing"..

Change your View and Change your World... (again, this is how new neural pathways are created)

Meditation can alleviate any kind of mental pain such as anxiety and depression. However if someone is already on the wrong side of the fence, they'll need medication for a while and then if they can then start mediation, the illness will go for good. You can't do anything for someone else's experience.

Or maybe you can. I've read about this method called Ho'oponopono, where you take full responsibility for whatever is happening around you, with you or another person and ask for forgiveness for making as it is and give love. The doctor who invented this technique healed whole hospital without even seeing a patient. You can read more about this method in Zero Limits a book by Joe Vitale. Or go here: http://www.hooponopono.org/

you are talking about mental illness or disability. like any other problem it needs to be understand so that you can solve it. is it the physical that is the problem? is it the mental that is the problem? is it the spiritual that is the problem? the physical will perish. the mental is yours to will and make your choice. the spiritual is your imperishable self. to each problem there is a solution you just need to find it. if it is the physical then you need to correct it using physical aid in this world. if it is mental you need to meditate and be born of water. if it is spiritual you need to solve the division in you to be born of spirit.so that the water and spirit become one and go above to the kingdom of light. with what measure are you discerning or judging that you have a mental illness or disability? discerning is good but judging or casting stone does not serve you. lift that stone, and properly split that piece of wood and you will find me there.

meditate with open eyes fix a spot in front of you that is not there. take control of your self, calm down and know your self. every thing that afflict and torment you will come to the surface of the water, face your fear see those shadow for what they are. let there be light of wisdom, understanding and truth with no division so that those shadow find no place to enter. let them dissolve in the light learn from it to not make the same mistake again. if you can see the light that you are in the reflection of the water then you will be born of water. after the light that you are will guide you in your learning and understanding until the 2 water and spirit becomes one. with out fear you can cross the last door and go above if your choice is to return to this world you will come back if not you will stay in the kingdom of light.

it takes over 40 days but the willing will find the way and overcome. many are on the wide gate. very fee enter the narrow gate.

let there be light, be the light that you can be, experience and enjoy.

Now it is widely acknowledged that tensions, unhappiness, worries and frustrations in mind give rise to a group of diseases called as Stress Associated Diseases or SADs (also called NCDs or Non-infectious Chronic Diseases). Conversely, their opposites--peace, happiness, confidence, and contentment--would enhance one's immunity that prevents illness, and prevent accumulation of toxins and wastes in the body, which provides fertile ground for the harmful micro-organisms to multiple--giving rise to group of diseases. All negativity is in one way or other connected with two conditions of the heart: This heart doesn't obey, and This heart wants more. Happily, Meditation solves both these problems! When you close your eyes, you know you are a being of consciousness, a spirit; hence a child of God, you are an exact representation of His very Being, endowed with His qualities such as wisdom, purity, peace, love, happiness, bliss and power. The very realization that you can radiate those qualities make you positive-minded. A positive mind transmits powerful and pious thought-vibrations. The positive thought-vibrations purify the atmosphere and also give activation of Ultra-dean rhythms of the body releasing very powerful rejuvenating hormones from Encephalin, endorphin ....to Melatonin that gives sound and recharging sleep. Thus you HEAL THYself, that is what healthy means: body-wise and mind-wise! You become whole (healthy, no disabilities). Let the spirit within you that created your body work--the creator can easily repair any problem! In meditation, this spirit within you get linked to the Supreme Spirit also. Now what is that is not possible? I will give link to a simple meditation method I learned: http://www.brahmakumaris.com/rajayoga-meditation.html

the spirit with in you is you, the real you that does not die. the dead are not alive and the living will not die. God is spirit and God created us in is image. one day you will be born of water that is the soul. once the division is solved between soul and spirit they unite again and become a single one.

(27 Sep '13, 16:54) white tiger

Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away. The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. In the days when you consumed what is dead, you made it what is alive. When you come to dwell in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?"

(27 Sep '13, 17:03) white tiger

http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/gthlamb.html when you will be born of water(soul=mind and heart) you will become two because you do not know the living one(spirit, light) that you are. you will dwell in the light. when the division is solved the 2 becomes one. then with out fear you can cross the last narrow door and go above in the kingdom of light. if your heart is pure you can see god and dwell in the light that establish it self, the alpha and the omega that created us in is image.

(27 Sep '13, 17:03) white tiger

The images are manifest to man, but the light in them remains concealed in the image of the light of the father. He will become manifest, but his image will remain concealed by his light.
