I was slow surfing today and came across this clip on YouTube again.
Greatest Speech Ever Charlie Chaplin The Great Dictator
I thought I would ask would you fight for these reasons?
This is not a call to arms but a call to reason.
And a call to others to rethink just what are they fighting for?

...

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible- Jew, Gentile, black men, white...

We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others' happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind.

We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery ,we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all.

Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say "Do not despair."

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder!

Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men--machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have a love of humanity in your hearts! You don't hate!

Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural.

Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!

In the seventeenth chapter of St. Luke, it's written "the kingdom of God is within man", not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy, let us use that power.

Let us all unite.

Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise. They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people!

Now let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance!

Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Regardless of what ideology the idea of New World Order is sold to people, unless human kind is united, Starfleet of United Federation of Planets will surely not come into existence. =)

People will cling to whatever reason justifies the outcome they desire.

(30 Sep '13, 03:14) CalonLan

I love taking any chance I get to link that video. I believe it is going to live on through the ages and future cultures will look back and remember it for longer than most legacies. I couldn't think of words to articulate the greatness and legend expressed in this speech.

"Would I fight for a new world order?"

Depends, whose new world order? With what intent, what implementation, etc. If handled the right way, absolutely.

(02 Oct '13, 23:31) Snow

Sounds like soviet propaganda to me. I would fight against it.

(03 Oct '13, 00:33) flowsurfer

"We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others' happiness, not by each other's misery."

You can have a world of reason, science, progress, and happiness which still embraces countless different cultures, economic, and government systems, making it immune to being perceived as propaganda for any one cause.

The suggestion that unity and brotherhood would inspire a golden age somewhat transcends association with more "earthly" concepts.

(03 Oct '13, 05:58) Snow

@Snow This is literally soviet propaganda. It is well known that Chaplin was a soviet sympathizer; probably just a useful idiot but still.

(03 Oct '13, 06:24) flowsurfer

Sounds like propaganda of any race that wishes to cease the power. It could just as well be said about any extraterrestrial races sending their messages...by the promise of love and peace...they lure us into their traps. =)

(03 Oct '13, 07:49) CalonLan

@flowsurfer. So you would fight for a world of unreason, hate and greed? And don't confuse communism with Stalinism and Moaism

(03 Oct '13, 10:29) ursixx
2

ursixx, the irony is that for each it is a silent battle to know him/herselfs by becoming as fully self-conscious as possible that would lead to a golden age, not by fighting or killing under any guise

(03 Oct '13, 16:59) fred
1

I'm in absolute agreement @Fred; not only that but the whole speech is full of irony. Fighting for a new world order ? Both sides always think they are right. War begins, lives are taken, the 'good' fight harder, the war ends & everyone is left with only destruction.

(03 Oct '13, 23:52) ele
1

@ursixx What do you have against greed?

(04 Oct '13, 00:02) flowsurfer

More like, what do you have against anything. It's all part of you. Greed, hatred, unreason...is all part of you. Maybe, stop denying it.

(04 Oct '13, 01:45) CalonLan

All conflicts are fought for but not all take place on a battlefield.

@"This is soviet propaganda." Apply everything said here to the idea of how one treats a stranger, then to how one group treats another, then how one group of groups treats another. Take it from the perspective of "Principles on which I would build my [insert business, community, life, country, planet, etc. here]" You're only associating it with any one social concept because you're choosing to, and by doing so you ~~~

(04 Oct '13, 07:11) Snow

Dramatically narrow the scope of the message.I take everything said to be of almost a clichéd level of obvious info anyone can apply to various levels of personal & social life. Similar to how the golden rule is one of those known truths, and the 'concept' everyone agrees saying it'd be better if all people worked this way, but implementation is the problem, saying things like "you can't get everyone to be this way."

Replace all the words in this speech with their antonyms, then think about it

(04 Oct '13, 07:13) Snow

Why do we have images about ourselves? Those images separate people. If you have an image of yourself as Swiss or British or French and so on, that image not only distorts your observation of humanity, but it also separates you from others. And wherever there is separation, division, there must be conflict--as there is conflict going on all over the world,,,,

(07 Oct '13, 02:20) ursixx

,,, the Arab against the Israeli, the Muslim against the Hindu, one Christian church against another. National division and economic division all result from images, concepts, ideas, and the brain clings to these images. Why? - Krishnamurti, The Network of Thought, pp 40-41

(07 Oct '13, 02:21) ursixx

What do you have against conflict? I mean that seriously. The swiss have a national identity because they have a way of life, a way they like to exist. Same for all groups. If a swiss decides he rather live another way, he switches allegiance to another group. These ways are inherently contradictory in nature. The only way we found to deal with that is by separating groups geographically (the principle of national sovereignty). Without that separation there is violent conflict for supremacy.

(07 Oct '13, 04:26) flowsurfer

Even with this separation there is a violent conflict for supremacy. There is really no way to live a properly human life without conflict because the only way to avoid conflict is to have a single will. It seems preferable to me to have freedom and conflict than to have slavery and peace.

(07 Oct '13, 04:32) flowsurfer

and who decides who is supreme @flowsurfer?

(07 Oct '13, 04:32) ursixx

Ultimately, God @ursixx. Are we the masters of our life or not? If we shy away from assuming an identity for the sake of avoiding conflict, are we not shying away from our nature and displaying total lack of faith in the Creator?

(07 Oct '13, 04:38) flowsurfer

thus we are all a part of god and no one is more supreme than anyone else .It is judgements by our ego that put us in a state of supremacy.

(07 Oct '13, 04:55) ursixx

Faith in my creator(s)? Why would I need to have faith in my mom and dad...Their existence is strongly evident throughout the course of my life. There's no reason to substitute this evidence with faith.

(07 Oct '13, 04:59) CalonLan

As long as there is interpenetration there is always conflict. So live in any desired state and then as conflict arises resolve it and die to it and then move into another state. Thus we grow and outgrow; thus man awakes. Neville Goddard 3-23-1959 THE ART OF DYING http://realneville.com/txt/the_art_of_dying.htm

(07 Oct '13, 05:10) ursixx

@CalonLan Your parents did not create you. All they did was culture your body and mind. If I take a seed, plant it, water it, protect it, I do not create the tree by this. I barely even know anything about the tree.

(07 Oct '13, 16:44) flowsurfer

@flowsurfer If you plant your seed in the womb of a female, I'm pretty sure if a baby grows, it would qualify you as a creator.

I do believe, this thread needs a bit of feminine energy as well as wisdom

As I said in the comments - I'm in absolute agreement with @Fred; not only that, but the whole speech is full of irony. Fighting for a new world order ? Both sides always think they are right. War begins, lives are taken, the 'good' fight harder, war ends & everyone is left with only destruction. Look what happened to Atlantis!

I realize you said "this is not a call to arms"; but when a group of people tell another group of people what to think, feel or do, a fight usually ensues which could escalate into a war.

and to quote Einstein

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

Of course if you believe we live in a world of duality & you believe this can not change, then there will always be war.

alt text

Would you fight for a New World Order?

What right does anyone have to tell anyone what to think, feel or do?

NO, I would NOT & it seems I'm in good company.

Remember what Mahatma Gandhi said?

"You must be the change you want to see in the world."

To quote Ed & Deb Shapiro

"Change has to start within you; you cannot expect the world to change if you do not. Instead of focusing on the problems, you can start to live the solutions." If you want more love in your life you must become more loving; if you genuinely want to end terrorism and bring real and peaceful change to the world, then you have to change from being concerned with your own needs to reaching out and helping others. When you make peace with yourself, there is one less person suffering."

To quote the Dalai Lama

We first have to learn how negative emotions and behaviors are harmful to us and how positive emotions are helpful. We must also realize that these negative emotions are not only very bad and harmful to one personally, but are also harmful to society and the future of the whole world."

To quote Seane Corn

"If what is happening on a global level is representative of what is happening on the individual level, and if I want to transform what is happening globally, then I have to look within myself and see where I am separating myself from other human beings and from the earth. Where am I living in blame, in hate, in terrorism, in war, in any negative capacity toward another being? For if I am not willing to clean up the fear or the disconnect that is within myself, then I am responsible for what is happening on a planetary level."

To quote Marianne Williamson

"Meditation can change the world because meditation changes us. That is the point. It returns us to our right mind, and until there is this evolution in consciousness, we will stay locked in a fear-based perspective in which we continue to see ourselves as separate from each other, and in which we continue to think that we can do something to someone else and not reap the result ourselves."

Ed & Deb Shapiro concur

"For kindness and compassion to become a natural expression of who you are, you may need help, guidance and support. Meditation in its many forms is the one method we have found that does all of this. When you get to know yourself more deeply, you discover that you are more than you thought you were, that you have the resources, strength and wisdom to not only make changes but to become the change you long for."

According to the basic principles of LOA, the last thing you want to focus on, is 'things' you do not wish for. You can only affect others in a positive way if you raise and maintain your vibrational frequency. Ever here of the Vortex @ursixx ? lol Vortex to the rescue once again. Moods are contagious. We all know how contagious laughter is. We all have experienced how down, negative people can make us feel. We can't change anyone other than ourselves, no matter how hard we try & it's not our job to do so. Would you like someone to tell you how to think, feel or what to do?

It's my job to expand my consciousness, magnify my own thoughts & feelings of love, kindness, compassion, harmony, cooperation & happiness and meditation is an important tool for us to use to achieve this state of 'being'. Once again, we can't change anyone else but ourselves. Then we allow others to choose to follow us or not. We all have free choice. You know how good it feels when we are around upbeat, positive & loving people, don't you? If enough of us change our 'consciousness' & our vibes, more people will want to be like us & this will certainly change the world.

You can't touch without being touched.

"More than a prayer or a religious statement, this is a beautiful technology for teaching us to bring the presence of higher spiritual divine organized intelligence to the presence of every energy that is not of The Source." ~ Xavier Yartes

As you know, words can came have more than one meaning. I would like to clarify my first sentence before anyone jumps to the wrong conclusion.

1) I did not mean to imply any of the comments or answers made by the males members sucked. Quite the contrary. I especially like @Wade's answer - Love. Love is Always the Answer. (Yes, @Cal, I recall our convo on the subject & no reminder is necessary.)

2) As for wisdom, I was speaking of the wisdom of female spiritual teachers such Maryanne Williamson, Seane Corn & Deb Shapiro as well as male wisdom from the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, Rev Ed Shapiro & last but NOT least, the late John Lennon..

We all know how difficult it is to change anyone, including ourselves. People who try to change others often times have "control' issues. IMO, it's better to lead by example than be a control freak @ursixx.

Before you say anything @ursixx about my answer being wiki. I know my answer is very good as are most of my wiki answers. Not the point - it's more copy & paste than my own words. I think the message carries more weight if it comes directly from these teachers.

What right does anyone have to tell anyone what to think, feel or do?

Since when do you need rights to do so. The concept that there is some sort of authority handing out all sorts of rights to do this and that is broken. lol

(11 Oct '13, 02:00) CalonLan

@Cal you are sooooooo right.

(11 Oct '13, 02:02) ele

@Cal As for tell anyone else what to think, feel, do - sure, go right ahead. It tis your right to do so & good luck with that. I meant tell as in mandate. Many gov's & religions attempt to do this. Is there any wonder conflict & war continues? Many parents & control freaks do this as well. My parents led by example. They didn't tell me what to think or feel; however they did tell me what to do as a child. Be the Change You Want to See in The World See my 1st quote - Gandhi. Thanks

(11 Oct '13, 03:32) ele

@ele, I wish I could be the change I want to see, but I can't... I don't have money to sustain that change. lol =)

And yes it was my point, a lot of people are telling others what to do, think, what's right what's wrong... They even went so far as to proclaiming their teaching to come from the God himself. The whole idea that somebody knows the right way is ########, being right is purely perceptional.

The point is, everyone's free to do whatever they want. Some people like to restrict that

@flow You asked SR this on another ? "Who is John Galt? I thought this would be an appropriate spot to A your ? I don't believe that the New World Order has to be fought for. It is coming slowly but surely. It is based on the great experiment (The Republic of America and Capitalism.)

The reason it is coming is the people want it the world round. The internet is partly responsible, the world's news is also. Other countries look to America and the people see the standard of life here. They see the success and want that for themselves. I believe that is why we are seeing revolutions in other countries, they want freedom and equality.

In that respect they are fighting. But I do believe the more the world responses in love, the easier the transition will become.

It was not easy for America to become what it is, a shining example. It will not be easy for other countries to follow example. The results of following will be worth it. When all are in harmony with compassion for every human (that all are considered equal and have the same opportunities) then the greatest human achievements can be made. Immortality, manned solar system exploration, I believe teleportation even. I know that was on the list of things that will never exist but so was the invention of real light sabers and MIT and Harvard just found a way to invent a real light saber.

I believe teleportation can be achieved not from dismantling matter and transporting it, but from changing its location frequencies. Every location is just a four dimensional frequency of time and space.

I would not believe any 'never exist' list ..but that's just me. Simply because...

Your beliefs stretch between the boundaries of your limited knowledge. Attempts to determine definite facts without full comprehension of your surrounding is primitive and in direct correlation to what you are, humans ....is what a being of much more understanding would probably say.

Just as people of some forest tribe would probably not believe you telling them about metal birds that men rule and fly.

(30 Sep '13, 02:55) CalonLan

"War actually takes place more for the defensive than for the conqueror, for invasion only calls forth resistance, and it is not until there is resistance that there is war. A conqueror is always a lover of peace (as Buonaparte always asserted of himself); he would like to make his entry into our state unopposed; in order to prevent this, we must choose war, and therefore also make preparations, that is in other words, it is just the weak, or that side which must defend itself, which should be always armed in order not to be taken by surprise; so it is willed by the art of war." - Carl von Clausewitz

Define the moral code being defended by this "New World Order" as well as the objective conditions regarding the viability of defending it, and I'll be able to answer. I would like a New World Order where people could travel and trade freely, where property and life are respected and no man is made a slave of another. I would like a world in which the generous have no impediment to sharing the product of their labor but are not forced to do so. The objective conditions for defending such a world, even in such general terms, are extremely weak. This makes me unwilling to invest my energy towards establishing this new world order. I have therefore settled for living in enemy territory and pursuing my desires in it, obeying as necessary the dictates of the current world order. I am not a fan of democracy, so no, I would not fight "in the name of democracy".

Would you fight for a New World Order?

No. Fight for peace? Antithetical to the desired outcome. Kill one dictator and you create more dictators.

The most I can do is to change myself to accept a world of peace. Then I can live in a world of peace, and mostly I do just that.

EDIT: In the Vietnam era I attended peace rallies, but never an anti-war rally. I think there is an important difference.

@Dollar Bill would you : strive vigorously and resolutely?
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/fight

(07 Oct '13, 05:17) ursixx

How does killing a dictator create more dictators? It may open the way for them, a way which was blocked by the previous dictator, but it doesn't create them. The use of force is natural. The moral code ruling that use is artificial. The fact is that all humans are part slave and part dictator. You can't kill off the dictators unless you want to kill off everyone. You can only control them by ensuring (dictating) they follow a moral code which is acceptable to you (the rule of law).

(07 Oct '13, 18:19) flowsurfer

@ursixx - To me these words indicate struggle through personal effort and do not take into account inspiration and acting with source knowledge.

(10 Oct '13, 17:03) Dollar Bill
1

@flowsurfer - you create what you focus upon. If you focus upon force, you will have to use greater force. If you focus on killing dictators, more dictators will take their place -- in your world, so that you can continue to pursue that focus.

If this is what you want, you have the freedom to pursue just that. Perhaps we define "force" in different ways?

(10 Oct '13, 17:12) Dollar Bill

Do you believe that "You can only control them by ensuring (dictating) they follow a moral code which is acceptable to you (the rule of law)." Isn't that just what dictators do?

Do you believe that you can legislate/dictate morality?

(10 Oct '13, 17:13) Dollar Bill

dollarbill, that is where the concept a Divine Plan of Infinite Mind comes from. the law is not really ours to set by design. yet our selfishness and elitist histories believe it to be our Divine Right of Kings.

(10 Oct '13, 19:52) fred

Yes but I don't have anything against dictators, I am only against certain dictates, not dictating itself. There is no such thing as a society without dictators but there are societies where dictates are tyrannical, that is, based on persons and privilege as opposed to principles. Morality is a broad topic which includes law but is not exclusively law. You can't "legislate" morality but you can "moralize" law. Your law will always displays your moral standards. The law IS ours to set by design.

(10 Oct '13, 23:26) flowsurfer

If I am on a subway and someone grabs my cell phone, I might shout "Stop!". I am dictating a law at that point because I am announcing that this behavior will be retaliated against by the use of force (I will use whatever force necessary to stop the person and take back the phone); even before I specify any sort of punishment. For all intents and purposes, I could be bluffing and have no interest or ability to use force to back up my demand to stop but I am still attempting to dictate behavior.

(10 Oct '13, 23:30) flowsurfer

There is a broad misunderstanding regarding the nature of law. It does not come "from the top down", in the sense of "it's what congress or the king says". It comes from the bottom up in the sense that what congress or the king says matters because citizens recognize them as lawful. Everyone determines his own law and acts accordingly. The end result of that is a constantly shifting political balance that allows governments to rise and fall. This is why there is a 2nd amendment in the US.

(10 Oct '13, 23:36) flowsurfer

Well said @Fred. "Divine Law"! Mankind is a curious being. We are all hardwired with a similar set of built-in laws. "It is not right to....." Steal, kill, break in line, take another man's wife, on and on, yet when we break one of these "Divine Laws" and we often do, (in mind or actuality) we have an excuse list as long as your arm as to why it was OK -- for us, but NOT for another.
