From my understanding Gnosis is spiritual knowledge obtained, by those who have become enlightened, through a transcendental experience or connection to the infinite -

I think any wisdom we learn from a truly enlightened being can only be beneficial in our own spiritual growth.

As with any word, it depends on the context. Some schools use it to indicate the self-knowing aspect (as in "know thyself" and "the awakening of the planet to self-awareness").

a sect of people around the time and place of Jesus of Nazareth revered the Gnosis,
believing it had the truths that needed to be cherished by mankind,
they and the cherished truths got pushed aside and nearly burried

So, the truth was a lie, something to think about. Thank you.
