The 5 Tibetan Rites are a series of aerobic exercises designed to circuluate chi throughout the body in a more conductive way. Exercises place important on body tension, physical movement and breath control. These exercises are said to strengthen and balance the energy flowing in the chakras.

I have recently began practising these movements and can say I have never found anything more immediatly benefical. I feel super relaxed and at total zen with the entire universe.

I stumbled across these exercises in my discovery of the utilisation of sexual energy and the connection it ties in with spiritual energy. I stand my original statement and say that sexual energy is spiritual energy and the way to take control of our super powers is to transmute sufficient sexual energy from our root chakra to our higher chakras. Being a fit young man having an overwhelming lust and drive for sex, I figured if I was going to live celebate I would need to find of ridding this sexual desire- thankyou to our @Stingray

http://www.inwardquest.com/questions/647/how-can-we-overcome-or-transcend-our-sexual-desire

The 6th rite was not a placebo effect- it actually worked. I was stunned at the result. This inspired me to look into the 5 Tibetan Rites, where the 6th Rite was a 'reserved, special rite' only designed for people with excess sexual impulses and lustful thoughts that drove their body insane.

So here is a wikipedia link for the 5 Tibetan Rites

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Tibetan_Rites

According to book reviews, people can grow back their hair, change grey hair to coloured, increased energy, increased feelings of peacefulness and a remarkable spiritual glow emmiting from their skin after a few weeks of practise.

So I beckon to ask, does anybody here on IQ actually practise these rites and how many years/ time have you been doing it for?

I couldn't quite understand what the "sixth rite" was. It seems to be a form of erotic auto-asphyxiation?

(09 Nov '13, 08:04) flowsurfer

"sufficient sexual energy from our root chakra to our higher chakras."

I could be mistaken, I don't know too much about this topic, but I believe the sacral chakra is home to sexual energy, not the root.

In either case, I think your answer is correct in the sense directing overabundance of energy from one place to another is a secret to raising our limits, but I believe there are multiple 'generators' in the body other than the sexual one and all are valuable.

Just IMO though. Good Q.

By celibate I'm assuming you mean you don't ########## either. What about nocturnal ############? I force myself to ######### at least once every three days regardless of how I feel about it simply to avoid having to clean my underwear. I've also read people who practice celibacy despair over this, thinking they have "lost their power" or whatever. I personally think it's insane to "practice" celibacy but to each his own.

(10 Nov '13, 23:53) LapisLazuli

@flow "thinking they have "lost their power" or whatever." In her book The New Celibacy, Gabrielle Brown states that "abstinence is a response on the outside to what's going on, and celibacy is a response from the inside."[6] According to this definition, celibacy (even short-term celibacy that is pursued for non-religious reasons) is much more than not having sex. It is more intentional than abstinence, and its goal is personal growth and empowerment. This perspective on celibacy is ...

(10 Nov '13, 23:56) ele

is ... echoed by several authors, including Elizabeth Abbott, Wendy Keller, and Wendy Shalit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celibacy

There is also more than one def of the word. He also didn't say if it was voluntary or not. He's right, no matter how much you enjoy it, "it's not who you are."

(10 Nov '13, 23:59) ele

Good quote from the book @flow linked. "A woman who is at home with her feminine essence is at home with energy, be it sexual or spiritual. For such a woman, there is no disconnection between sex and spirit." 6th rite not applicable.

(11 Nov '13, 00:18) ele
1

@LapisLazuli- You go by repetitions of every motions rather than how long you wish to do it for. The longest of the motions will take about 5-6 seconds to perform (Rite #4 when done with pauses). Sources stress to start off with 3 reps of every movement, once per day, and add an extra 2 reps every week per exercise until you eventially build it up to 21.

I am doing the full 21 now, i've only been doing the rites a couple of days, takes me about 10 minutes to complete. Hope that helps bro

(11 Nov '13, 03:29) Nikulas

@ele Well, I can't speak for female sexuality/celibacy. I don't think it's appropriate for women to speak for male sexuality/celibacy.

(11 Nov '13, 06:54) flowsurfer

@ele, so if you're not gonna f###, do alcohol or drugs, you gonna become something more than everyone else? How much and to what extent is a person going to growth? And will they get a lot of fans afterwards? I guess, Buddha has a lot of fans indeed.

People are deluded by definitions. I can't be more than I already am, for I'm already all that I could possibly be. It's undefinable.

Definitions are only point of views. By applying them people will only limit themselves.

(11 Nov '13, 07:27) CalonLan

And if you assume that all that is "not who you are"...then you're nothing at all. You may disregard any experience like that, being selective in your preferences and definitions doesn't change anything about the reality itself.

(11 Nov '13, 07:32) CalonLan

@flow I think you misunderstood. I pasted & copied from wiki. I also pasted a quote from a book you linked. The quote from your book did NOT have any thing to do with celibacy - quite the opposite. True, I'm not advocate for celibacy; but it also depends on how you define it. Whether it is by choice or not & the length of time. Either way, to each their own.

(12 Nov '13, 00:56) ele

@Cal Where did you get the idea I was against sex, alcohol or drugs? Let me clear this up, once and for all. I'm NOT against sex - quite the contrary. As for the other two - I'm not against those either. The only def I was looking for was how do you define celibacy.

@ele, don't worry, my points don't matter. I only mess around anyway.

...and the way to take control of our super powers is to transmute sufficient sexual energy from our root chakra to our higher chakras.

Your sentence should really be reworded to the following... :)

...and a risky way to take control of our super powers is to transmute sufficient sexual energy from our root chakra to our higher chakras.

Yes, you can tune into those higher energies that way by stimulating the endocrine glands but unless you do it very delicately and in a balanced way, it's going to bring quite a bit of discomfort and disruption along with those abilities. Most people don't have the patience not to push too hard to get results quickly.

The Five Tibetans exercises do the same kind of stimulation of those glands but in a more physically-based way. I did them for about a year or so and did definitely notice some physical benefits. It's certainly worth trying them out if you feel attracted to them.

Hello @Stingray - "The Five Tibetans exercises do the same kind of stimulation of those glands but in a more physically-based way." In that case, does the Five Tibetans bypass the "risk" that you mentioned, or does it court the same risk? I wasn't exactly sure from the context if this is a different thing than the "chakra transmutation" that Nikulas mentioned, or not. Many thanks.

(10 Nov '13, 14:34) lozenge123

@Stingray- May you please outline 1) The benefits you experienced from the rites and 2) (more important) What are these precautions/dangers/risks and why is there such stress on building it up over a period of several weeks? Being impatient, I have been doing the full 21 reps immediatly because I want to experience the full changes. What's the worst that could happen? A psychic burnout?

(10 Nov '13, 20:10) Nikulas

@Stingray- Also, the use of the 6th rite, I am learned, it only to be used pretty much when a man gets #####. I say this because it is classifed as "reserved" only for men with sexual cravings and it said to not be practised unless under immediate sexual appetitie. Would performing the 6th rite be dangerous as well?

(10 Nov '13, 20:12) Nikulas

@Stingray- And how do the Tibetan rites go when in comparison with your chi building exercises? (eg: bloodwashing)

(10 Nov '13, 20:13) Nikulas

@lozenge123 - "does it court the same risk?" - It's a gland-stimulation system ( "chakra development" ) like most old spiritual systems are. It's going to be difficult to overdo it though because, being physically-based, you'll probably get a sore back before you manage to go too far :) Those systems were developed over many years in times when information was scarce and you had no choice but to slowly and steadily follow the guidance of your favorite system "Master". In these days...

(12 Nov '13, 03:28) Stingray

@lozenge123 - ...when we live in times of information over-abundance and a push for instant results, it seems that many arbitrarily decide that a particular "chakra" is deficient within themselves and pump as much sound, color, visualization etc into them as possible to achieve a certain result. Sure, something will happen as a result of doing that, but the chances are that the ride is going to get rather bumpy :) There's a certain price to be paid physically for overloading these spiritual...

(12 Nov '13, 03:34) Stingray

@lozenge123 - ... "energy transformers" since we (and they) are projecting into a physical world with physical limitations.

(12 Nov '13, 03:36) Stingray

@Nikulas - Can't remember the detailed benefits. It was a long time ago and, really, a year is not a long time to practice any system. I doubt 21 reps is going to do you any harm apart from straining your back :) As for the sixth rite, I don't really have an opinion or enough experience with it. Use it if you feel inspired. Don't use it if you don't :)

(12 Nov '13, 03:42) Stingray

@Nikulas - The "blood washing" or "Nerve Fibre Building" (as it now called because the technique has evolved considerably since the 2000s) is quite different because the emphasis is on building-up the capacity to carry more of the "higher" energies and tune into them electrically rather than the usual age-old approach of getting the endocrine glands to pump hormones into the bloodstream. It's been my preferred method since I first came across it so you can deduce my view of it from that:)

(12 Nov '13, 03:47) Stingray

@Stingray- Thankyou for your experience on it.

(12 Nov '13, 04:58) Nikulas

@Stingray - Thanks very much for the info. If you don't mind me asking, seeing as you ceased practicing the 5 Tibetans is there a chakra/energy "maintenance system" that you recommend over the 5T, or do you no longer find such practices useful? Many thanks in advance.

(14 Nov '13, 10:39) lozenge123

@lozenge123 - I find such practices very useful actually and learning to control this flow of energy physically has interesting effects on one's manifesting experiences, never mind the accompanying "interesting" abilities you find yourself with :)

I don't follow the gland-stimulation approaches anymore even though I've done so for many years previously. This is the chi school that I was talking to @Nikulas about and it's what I now use for "development" : http://www.chienergyheals.com/

(14 Nov '13, 10:47) Stingray

@Stingray- I can relate to this. I practised the 5 Tibetans daily for about 3-4 months. Initially I felt great from the first time I done them. Then my back started to get sore though after a few months to the point where I was not enjoying them anymore and give up on it. I still have some head and neck pressure today which surfaced around the same time I was practising them. Not sure if its related to this.......

(14 Nov '13, 11:16) Satori

@Stingray-I would agree that anybody practising energy- raising exercises like this to err on the side of caution as it could be easy to overdo it. Go gently. :)

(14 Nov '13, 11:17) Satori
1

@Satori - Ah, I didn't realize that head/neck pressure coincided with these exercises. Possibly it could be related. Have you followed any "energy-raising" systems before?

(14 Nov '13, 12:52) Stingray

@Stingray- Come to think of it I have dabbled in a lot of energy raising practises over the years:) Yoga/kundalini yoga was a big one, up to an hour a day most times for years. When I look back now I think I did take all this to the extremes:) The head/neck pressure Ive been experiencing seems to have no emotional charge behind it, just my feelings about it which are not a problem.......

What I found when I was doing the rites.I would have issues creep in, like Carpal Tunnel in my right wrist. It made it difficult to continue, until I sat back and felt what the message was, and then I would be able to continue with minor discomfort.I also worked through Rotator Cuff in a short period of time.I found them very easy to focus on with the help of the Rites.

(14 Nov '13, 16:22) Roy

@Stingray- I would be grateful for any insight or advice you might have Stingray. As you may have guessed this is about the only place I can get to talk about this;) Thanks.

@Satori Here is a technique that helped me recently with an unexpectedly persistent head pressure. I think it's worth trying. http://www.spirit-awakening.com/2012/10/energy-pressure-around-head.html

@Satori - "be grateful for any insight or advice you might have Stingray" - Beyond what I've already mentioned previously in other threads, I'm not really sure. It's not a problem I've ever had so I've never really looked into solutions. Perhaps my "gift" in this life is that I'm too lazy to overdo anything that feels like hard work :) Perhaps that's why these "manifesting" ideas seem to be effective for me...I'm always more than happy to let someone else ("The Universe") do it for me :)

@Stingray- Thanks for the reminder :) I guess I'm still at a stage with some things where I have to exhaust all the options by "Doing" something before I let it go. :)

(16 Nov '13, 08:58) Satori

@Stingray - I've been listening to the first several Mp3s and this seems to be just the sort of thing that I've been looking for. Very exciting. Thanks again for pointing the way. :)

(17 Nov '13, 23:22) lozenge123

@lozenge123 - You're welcome. It's a fairly unique and powerful approach which avoids many of the usual problems associated with the journey of tuning into "higher" energies.

(19 Nov '13, 03:28) Stingray

@Stingray - My wife and I have both been doing the 5 Tibetans and she feels "energized" but really hot after doing the 21 reps, and also in the middle of the night (for some reason I'm not experiencing this myself doing the 5 rites). I was wondering if she could be experiencing the hot "Yang" energy that the Chi School warns about? Many thanks in advance.

(04 Dec '13, 14:35) lozenge123

@lozenge123 - Yes, that sounds like the heat they talk about. I wouldn't really worry about it though if she's just doing the 5 Tibetans. It will probably settle down. I've been "hot" for years previously using other systems but they generally don't generate enough power over the short term to hurt you (a few years is short term in spirituality). In contrast, the school's exercises generate so much energy that you can give yourself a hard time very quickly if you don't keep cool and happy :)

(05 Dec '13, 04:16) Stingray

@Lozenge123 - I would say that is definitely what is happening. I also agree with Stingray, that the bad side effects of the 5 Tibetans is probably not going to be too extreme. However, you need to be very careful of running hot with the Chi school exercises. When I start to 'Yang out' with the Chi school exercises, on top of feeling hot during the night, I also have sleepless nights. I have been warned that the bad side effects can get a lot worse.

(05 Dec '13, 06:14) Pink Diamond

@Stingray - Just wanted to say a belated thanks for your response. The "heat" has continued, but sounds like its nothing to be concerned about.

(23 Dec '13, 23:25) lozenge123

@Pink Diamond - Thanks for the pointers!

(23 Dec '13, 23:26) lozenge123

Dear other 5 Rites practitioners: Does anyone have advice on what speed to do the rites at? I have scoured the Kelder texts and not found any definitive answer to this (other than that breaths should be "rhythmic"). There are videos of people online doing them slowly, and others at a breakneck work-out pace. I've just been doing them at a rate that feels personally comfortable, but I'm curious if anyone has more definitive information.

(14 Mar '14, 14:44) lozenge123

@lozenge123 - "doing them at a rate that feels personally comfortable" - That's probably a reasonable approach. With stimulating the endocrine glands to secrete hormones, which is what these exercises are doing, it's an idea to watch yourself for signs of over-doing it such as long-term headaches, irritability/aggressiveness, social isolation etc. though as I've probably said above somewhere, I don't think these relatively gentle and short physically-based exercises will push you over the edge

(15 Mar '14, 08:46) Stingray

@Stingray - Thanks for the response and advice...good to know!

I've done 4 of the 5 Tibetans for 20 years, not exactly daily but often. The practice improves my circulation so I'm warm even in the northern winter. It has reversed some grey hair, and I believe has generally kept me healthy. All this without attempting the 6th rite or the diet suggested.

I have an acquaintance who has done them twice a day for a while, although I'm not sure how many months or years, and claims that is why in her 60's her hair has no more grey at all.

Regardless of the physical results, I do them because they make me feel fantastic.

(10 Nov '13, 22:27) flowsurfer

@flowsurfer- I like to think I appreciate #### more than anything...when it's with someone I care about. Whilst my ability to attract women has become effortless now, I'm yet to meet someone I have that 'special' connection with, so I would prefer to go no #### than settle for 'average ####.'

But I want to develop myself physically, mentally and spiritually and persistance with the 5 rites certainly is going to help me.

(11 Nov '13, 03:32) Nikulas

Is it certainly going to help you? I remember Neville being asked about a cult that taught celibacy. He said it was nonsense developed by impotent men. He used to be celibate, vegetarian, non-drinker, etc. He said he gave all that up when he found real spirituality: when he manifested his trip to Barbados. I'm pretty sure all 6 rites are basically nonsense. I'm sure they tinker with neurotransmitter levels, especially the erotic auto-asphyxiation one, but spiritual development? I think not.

(11 Nov '13, 07:42) flowsurfer

@Nikulas That is completely understandable. In fact, I think the more celibate and/or gay men out there, the better, so I'm not going to tell you to stop. In fact, I'm not even going to ask you the question I was going to ask you. Just keep at it!

For about a one and a half years I was up before six, faithfully every morning doing the 5 tibetan rites and my firebreath and at least 20 minutes of meditation.

At this time,I was also experiencing many different forms of energy, call them what you chose,Angels,Spirit Guides,Ascended Masters,Your Higher Self,...what ever...

I dont believe practicing the rites played a major role in what I was experiencing at that time. But I can say...I have never felt anything like the Love I experienced while practicing them.

I keep meaning to start practicing the 5 Tibetan Rites again, and I have tried to make it a habit a couple of times since.I really dont see why I shouldnt be,I am awake at fourthirty every morning anyways...Love and Light...
