What is God? to the best of our understanding.

"God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'; and He said, 'Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, "I AM has sent me to you"'" (Exodus 3:14). The Hebrew text in verse 14 literally says, "I be that I be."

First, God alone is a self-existent being and the first cause of everything else that exists. John 5:26 simply says, "The Father has life in Himself." Paul preached, "He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else" (Acts 17:25).

A necessary being is one whose nonexistence is impossible. Only God is a necessary being; all other things are contingent beings, meaning they could not exist. However, if God did not exist, then neither would anything else. He alone is the necessary being by which everything else currently exists - a fact that Job states: "If He should determine to do so, If He should gather to Himself His spirit and His breath, All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust" (Job 34:14-15).

Third, God is a personal being. The word personal in this context does not describe personality (e.g., funny, outgoing, etc.); rather, it means "having intent." God is a purposeful being who has a will, creates, and directs events to suit Him. The prophet Isaiah wrote, "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'" (Isaiah 46:9-10).

Fourth, God is a triune being. To be sure, this truth is a mystery, yet the whole of Scripture and life in general speaks to this fact. The Bible clearly articulates that there is but one God: "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one" (Deut. 6:4). But the Bible also declares that there is a plurality to God. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He commanded His disciples: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Notice the singular "name" in the verse; it does not say "names," which would convey three gods. There is one name belonging to the three Persons who make up the Godhead.

Scripture in various places clearly calls the Father God, Jesus God, and the Holy Spirit God. For example, the fact that Jesus possesses self-existence and is the first cause of everything is stated in the first verses of John: "All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life" (John 1:3-4). The Bible also says that Jesus is a necessary being: "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:17).

In addition to what the Bible says, creation speaks to the fact that God is a plural/triune being. The quintessential pursuit of philosophy has always been to understand the unity and diversity that exist in life. Students go to a "university" to find unity in diversity; the coins of the United States carry the moto "E Pluribus Unum" ("out of the many, one").

Only in Christianity is a satisfactory answer given for the unity and diversity found in life. The existence of unity and diversity presupposes unity in diversity in the First Cause, and that combination is only found in the triune God of the Bible.

Fifth, God is a loving being. In the same way that many things can exist but only one thing can be existence, people and other living things can possess and experience love, but only one thing can be love. First John 4:8 makes the simple ontological statement, "God is love."

What is God? God is the only one who can say, "I be that I be." God is pure existence, self-existent, and the source of everything else that possesses existence. He is the only necessary being, is purposeful/personal, and possesses both unity and diversity.

God is also love. He invites you to seek Him and discover the love He has for you in His Word and in the life of His Son Jesus Christ, the one who died for your sins and made a way for you to live with Him for eternity.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

http://biblehub.com/matthew/5-8.htm

What do we know about the kingdom of heaven where the spirit reside?

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

http://biblehub.com/revelation/22-13.htm

"And outside are fornicators, murderers, idol worshipers, the defiled, sorcerers and all seers and workers of lies."

if the kingdom of heaven is spirit and truth of course any one that lies cannot enter in it.

Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

the kingdom of heaven is a place of light and truth where nothing can be hide and all is know and shared among the children of light.

since God is spirit and truth immortal the beginning and the end the creator of course he know more then is children. he know the now from the beginning to the end.

So one only know God by knowing himself to understand the I am that he is so that he will be able to know and understand the I am in the image that he as been made.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

http://biblehub.com/genesis/1-27.htm

often people see only the flesh image and neglect this part: in the image of God he created them;

what is the image of God

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

http://biblehub.com/john/4-24.htm

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Let there be light, be the light that you can be, experience and enjoy.

you say the focus on self blinds the vision of cosmic abundance. but I say to you that one need to focus on the self to move from the false self of ignorance and darkness to the reel self of truth and light. only when this division is solve can is reel self reconnect above. as for dogma the children understand to their own level of understanding and many are still in ignorance and darkness. but by giving them word of truth and example they will grow. it is like weed and tares.

http://www.messiah-of-god.com/parable-of-the-weeds-parable-of-the-tares.html you see the sun shines on the whole world even if some are tares. Let both of them grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, 'Collect the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn'.'" (Matthew 13:29-30) their is light in a person of light and it shines on the whole world if not it is dark. Let anyone with ears listen!

"The truth is, there's not one path. The truth is, there's not only one right path. The truth is, all paths can be made to be the right path. The truth is, that every individual has a different path. And that different path that every individual is launching incrementally--and amending constantly--that true path is known by Source and is guided by Source if you will pay attention to the way you feel."

One of my favorite series of books are the Conversations With God books and I think the answer to What is God? is in there:

"People believe I am what they see Me as, rather than what they do not see. But I am the Great Unseen, not what I cause Myself to be in any particular moment. In a sense, I am what I am not. It is from the am-notness that I come, and to it I always return."

In other words EVERYTHING is God. Everything we understand and don't understand. Everything we see and don't see. And EVERYONE. Including you. For you are a creator (like all of us are).

A new invention has shattered the Belief that everyone is God, and God is even omnipresent is shattered (it has also shaken core Laws such as Law of Conservation Of Energy,¬ Lenz's Law .... Mr. Paramahamsa Tewari (Electrical Engineer, a former Director of the Kaiga Atomic Power Station, and former Executive Director of Nuclear Power Corporation of India. http://www.tewari.org/; http://www.rexresearch.com/tewari/tewari.htm), nearly after 40 years of painstaking effort, has already succeeded in developing a space generator, ¬ a super high-efficiency machine that produces power "from absolute vacuum or space". (http://www.collective-evolution.com/2015/04/15/breaking-news-over-unity-reactionless-generator-invented-in-india/) And it is all set to go commercial now with major Electric companies in various countries showing interest in purchasing its patent. A prototype of the machine has already been tested by KIRLOSKAR ELECTRIC and its efficiency has been confirmed. (The Economic Times dated 7.4.2015)

The breakthrough for the inventor came last year when his machine achieved an efficiency of 238%, which means it produced 2.38 times the electrical power provided to it initially, making it the first to achieve this. The implication of this new invention is too vast; because this essentially defies the LAW OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY ¬ and in the case of electrical generators, LENZ'S LAW, which forms the basis of Mechanics and Thermodynamics Laws that suggests machines cannot attain over a100% efficiency. The generator requires an initial infusion of power through a battery or AC supply, following which it produces power sustaining itself on electrons in a vacuum, without requiring external supply. "Space is the only reality, and has the potential to produce massive amounts of power if put through right technology," said the inventor. This would silence many scientists who were dismissive about the ancient India's concept of panchabhoothas, or five basic elements of physical universe--earth, water, fire, air and akash (ether/space)--saying there is no thing as ether filling all space and atoms. The above invention has conclusively proved beyond any doubt that space is actually an ocean of energy, and it is space that has manifested as planets, stars and galaxies. Interestingly, so far scientists were searching for energy in all the wrong places like fossil fuel buried in the earth and in the process polluted the precious air we breathe and water we drink, caused climate change and global warming, and set in motion a chain of diseases too. In fact they were behaving like fishes in the ocean, which come out on to the land in search of water! Thus, this invention has silently smashed the pride of scientists on many counts! See the plight of those who put their trust in science to the extent of believing there is no God!

Now the question arises--if the space is an ocean of material energy, and materialization of energy is matter, then what would vouch for the mind, the IMMATERIAL energy which is obviously different from matter? We know that a blind man cannot invent a camera which requires a person with ability of vision and who knows what vision is, and hence what is material cannot create what is immaterial. Interestingly, a few shrewd scientists were already hinting at this direction! Nobel laureate Eugene Wigner (the theoretical physicist) wrote that materialism was not logically consistent with present Quantum Mechanics. Then Sir Rudolf Peierls (another great 20th-century physicist) wrote that we CANNOT describe in terms of physics the whole function of a human being including knowledge and consciousness. Stephen Barr (a professor of physics at the University of Delaware) wrote a monograph titled "Does Quantum Physics Make it Easier to Believe in God?" He argues it does. Quantum physics has now ushered in this enormous amount of uncertainty in matter that can only be resolved with the interaction of a MIND on matter. In other words, if the human mind transcends matter to some extent, could there not exist minds that transcend the physical bodies altogether? Does it not mean that mind is immaterial and body is material by their very nature, hence mind or the self is superior to the body? This kindles again the old questions such as immortality of soul, Supreme Soul as a Father Figure up in the heavens ...

Paramahamsa Tewari's invention shows space is material energy, hence God cannot be present in the space as believed by some who say God is omnipresent (which obviously cannot be true, because if He is omnipresent, He should be present even in people like terrorists, rapists, sadists ... and if He is present in them, they cannot act the way they do now). By His very nature, God is immaterial, hence transcends the space which is now proved as merely material energy! We know that our essence, the self/soul is immaterial, and soul is just representation of the very being of God, who is the source for all the qualities of the souls residing temporarily in our physical bodies. Though lower species may display certain amount of self-awareness in varying degrees, humans are unique as they have also free-will, power of reason, ingenuity, ability to find the evidence of things unseen, intuition, aesthetic sense, all of which can be explained only if they are immaterial or spirit beings in the costumes called physical bodies. Besides, they also have a superb moral sense that is dynamic (not simply mechanical)--they can even say righteousness changes with circumstance and motive. When they say killing is wrong, they also distinguish between killings. For example, killing for selfish reason is wrong. But a Police Officer killing a man who has become a threat to the lives of the society is right. Similarly, war is wrong; yet defensive war against an aggressor is right! If human beings exhibit such dynamic moral sense, it should have its source in an immaterial essence/soul which is the exact representation of the very being of God.

Those who practice meditation regularly can testify to the above. When one switches off all his physical senses, he experiences his Self as completely separate from his physical body. In this stage, when his soul becomes fully focused on the Supreme Soul (God), he enjoys a oneness with qualities of God and finally experiences an equalization of them taking place just as water level rises in a container when linked to some water source. During such meditation many have experienced a transfer (or empowerment) of qualities that are lacking or less in them at that moment. They say: "We think of God as our Father, we experience receiving power. We think of Him as our Mother, we experience receiving peace. We think of Him as our Companion, we experience receiving joy." In other words, God takes whatever role that suits the need(s) of the one who meditates.

td, perhaps there is an immaterial part in everything material, as with us and in all the 7/8 of creation that is invisible to our eyes

A colonel in the Armed Services goes from place to place, telling of his encounter with God.

"God doesn't just know the hairs on your head; he knows the quarks in the atoms in the molecules in the hairs on your head!" (From Mt 10:30) This wonderful man does not say this dully; he shouts it to the lecture hall.

Don't we all wish we could encounter God? But if He "knows" our quarks, well then.....Is He not part of our own "substructure"? It depends on your definition of knowing. The Bible does not use this word lightly. In fact, knowing sometimes implies a deep and personal knowledge of, as with a husband or wife. Jesus used the word "know". The colonel was quoting from Matthew, and Jesus was referencing the fact that we should not worry about anything, for if God "knows" the number of hairs on our heads, then He also knows our minds and hearts.

From my own experiences, I can say that God is so huge, it is beyond belief. He is the only being in Creation bigger than our Universe. And imagine being able to create a universe.

I have put my complete faith in God for this time, and for other periods in my life. When I do this, and sustain my Faith, incredible events come to pass. It is really amazing! Believe that God is all, that you exist inside a "Sea of God". Life is so short, and passes so fast. Do not worry, "for behold, He is always with you". Every thought you think is intricately woven into God's world. He just knows, and if things are good, makes it so.

Imagine how God feels as I write this: He is rolling His eyes, I am sure.

Jai ♥
