I'm familiar with the bible a bit and what always caught me about it was the fact that some of the characters had very long lifespans. Noah lived to be 950 years old, another guy lived to be 969 and Adam lived to be 930 years old etc. This always made me have a bit of doubt in if they really made it to that old of an age. But if they really did it's cool to know. So I've known about this for a while now and so it got me thinking.

Is it possible to use our minds, and maybe a good diet, to live to be as old as these bible characters, like 900+ years old?

I always hear talk of how many things are possible in the dream realm where basically nothing is impossible. In the dream realm you can apparently live forever or fly.

I know that we are eternal beings in our True nature. But I'm just curious to see what your thoughts are on if it's possible to live 900 years with the power of the mind and the desire to in these physical bodies?

I'd appreciate any answers to this question dealing with age and living a very long length of time.

I'm no expert on "holy books" - and have rarely read them with any enthusiasm - but I do know they contained a lot of symbolism and allegory. So when you read a term like "years", it needs to be viewed within the context of the book as a whole and the intentions of the original writers. See Have we misinterpreted the Bible?

To give an example from Plato's Republic - which is something I have actually read enthusiastically :) - many people view it as a Socratic dialogue exploring political theory and it's easy to get swept up in all the political/societal implications of it.

But if you take a step back and look at it more metaphorically, which is what I believe Plato actually intended, it becomes a fascinating account of the interplay between the Mind, Brain and Physical Body. A casual reader might not see it but once you have it pointed out, it's obvious :)

And, as an aside for Star Trek nerds, notice how carefully the crew structure mirrors the societal structure discussed in The Republic...starting with the Philosopher King ("The Captain") at the top of the pyramid

So the point I'm making is don't get too wrapped up in the face-value terminology of these old books. A "year" in Bible-Speak might be relating to some other time interval, even some other concept.

Coming to your question....

Can you use your mind power to live as long as they did in the bible, like 900 years old?

Yes, you absolutely can.

There are only two requirements....

1) Generate an endless stream of powerful desires in your life

2) Allow the life energy that arises from those desires to flow unrestricted through you

That's all there is to it. Enjoy your immortality :)

Oh, and should you happen to need any further information, you might want to have a look at this answer...

Is it possible to live forever, by manifesting that thought?

@Stingray "A casual reader might not see it but once you have it pointed out, it's obvious" Time to reread it :).

@releaser99 - "Time to reread it" - Be sure to get the revised edition with the extra scenes. The bit where Arnie Socrates, dressed in black leather and dark glasses, declares "I'll Be Back ...with my existentially-driven viewpoint" is pretty cool. And, as for the final battle against the epistemological mutant armies armed with Aristotelian Rhetorical Triangles, now that's a real page turner. Watch for the final Descartian gambit ..."I think, therefore I am...going to blow you away".

@Stingray Yes, I have watched the film adaptation of Plato's Republic in which Socrates is portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Socrates is abducted by aliens to transform into a grateful dolphin who later is injured by a harpoon and rescued by two friendly children and their father. As the father secretly prepares "Socrates Barbecue" his children start to notice that their beloved dolphin friend is missing.

As they gather at the dinner table to talk about it, the father tells them "I know that I know nothing". I guess, the book is always better than the movie.

From what science say breathing make carbon monoxide tree filter the air to remove that carbon monoxide. it could be that the environment in the beginning was more sane for the physical body. since none of use was there at that time physically to tell if those years of life time of the physical body are true, you cannot have a definitive answer.

What you can do is look at the environment around you and how it changes over time. pollution, industrial waste affecting the air and water, war, nuclear missile, chemical and bacterial weapon. man changing the food they eat like crop genetically modify to poison bugs, that you are eating, not knowing what effect it as on you.

Could this change the amount of time that your physical body will live?

if you answer yes there is a good chance or high probability that people lived longer before.

There was also science news 15 year ago telling that if they modify some gene in the human body people could live up to 500 year the only problem is that people physical metabolism will be much slower, if you look at it people have issue with stress always the need to go faster and faster to make more money.

The Stress Epidemic Stress is epidemic in the western world. Over two-thirds of office visits to physicians are for stress related illness. Stress is a major contributing factor either directly or indirectly, to coronary artery disease, cancer, respiratory disorders, accidental injuries, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide; the six leading causes of death in the United States. Stress aggravates other conditions such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes, herpes, mental illness, alcoholism, drug abuse, and family discord and violence. The stress epidemic is an extremely costly one. The medical costs alone have been estimated in the United States at well over 1 Billion dollars per year. Stress costs industry approximately 150 billion dollars per year in increased health insurance outlays, burnout, absenteeism, reduced productivity, costly mistakes in the office and on the shop floor, poor morale, high employee turnover, as well as family, alcohol and drug related problems.

Stress: The Silent Killer Stress is a state of tension that is created when a person responds to the demands and pressures that come from work, family and other external sources, as well as those that are internally generated from self imposed demands, obligations and self-criticism. Stress is both additive and cumulative. It adds up over time until a state of crisis is reached and symptoms appear. These symptoms may manifest themselves psychologically as irritability, anxiety, impaired concentration, mental confusion, poor judgment, frustration and anger. They may appear as physical symptoms. Common physical symptoms of stress include: muscle tension, headaches, low back pain, insomnia and high blood pressure. Untreated, these symptoms may lead to physical illness and sometimes death.

Could it be that people in the past add less stress, and less environment issue.

So you can meditate on this and come up with your own answer.

Once done you can make the proper change for your self.

The question is would you want to live to 930 years old in the environment of today knowing that your body will fail, that even if you could force your self on the inside to stay in the body and repair the damage as long as you can, Do you really want that?

Will also let you meditate on this one.

use the time imparted to you wisely, why do you seek the end? For where the beginning is, there will the end be. Blessed is he who shall stand at the beginning, and he shall know the end, and shall not taste death.

Let there be light, be the light that you can be, experience and enjoy.

I tell you what:

Live with parents that use you like a slave; then marry someone who clearly thinks of you as a maid, sexual toy, and leaves the kid-rearing to you.... I guarantee you, it will feel like 900 years- that is, if you only focus on the negative, take your unhappiness out on everybody around you, and so on...but

Move on, marry a great guy who can make something positive out of just about anything.... and you will wish you could live for 900 years.

There have been certain people down through history who, using their gifts to the absolute fullest capacity of their hearts, have lived on long after their bodies were dust. Take Beethoven as an example. I truly think his music will be heard on spaceships from Earth, flying across the cosmos. We have been blessed down through history to have had such people live among us for a time. Mozart was in his early thirties when he died... And his music, too, will live on and on. Stingray mentioned Plato's Republic. There is another good example. We are still reading his words...

So, I believe if you want to live on and on, use your gifts. Be nice, too. Pass it forward, as they say. And you will leave behind you maybe not your body, but your spirit.

Happy day.
