My hero is Edgar Cayce, who persevered in giving health readings even when he was persecuted, even when his own health suffered for it, and persevered in building the A.R.E. in the face of one problem after another. His readings are still used to help people today for health and well-being and A.R.E. still educates people on all sorts of metaphysical subjects. Reading about him really opened my mind as a young woman and I know he has helped many worldwide.

On a more personal level though, it is my Father who was a police officer, and over the course of many years rescued people from plane crashes, auto accidents, fires and bank robberies, with no regard to his own safety. Although he was not very tapped into his spiritual side, he loved helping people and was very brave in doing so. He was always there for us kids, for neighbors who needed help with something, for my mom's parents when their health failed, or anyone with a problem.

I am so thankful for those who give us something to aspire to; even if we fall short, we honor them every time we try.

Numerous names sprang to mind when I read your question Jai... to narrow it down to one would be almost impossible.

However, when I really got to thinking I about it I think the true heroes are those who are never heard of or acknowledged. They live their daily lives as a testament of their true essence, neither seeking or expecting recognition or accolades for all the anonymous good they do every day of their lives. To me they are the unsung heroes who make the world a better place and inspire me to become a better person and to them I am eternally thankful :)

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

A guess before people answer this, we should be asking, what is the definition of hero?
