Do you believe that Jesus of Nazareth really walked this earth? If yes, then who do you say He was?

I'm not religious and I don't even come from a Christian background so I'm probably about as un-qualified a person to answer this question as you can get on this site :)

...however...

I was listening to a recording from Wendy Kennedy's Pleiadian Collective a year or so back and they, or one of the related consciousnesses that was being channelled, said that what people thought of as the character of Jesus was actually a group of people. I'm paraphrasing from memory and I can't remember exactly what was said or which recording it is on.

It reminded me a bit of the claims I've heard from time to time that Nostradamus (the one with all the prophecies) was not actually an individual, but a group of people also.

Just sharing an alternative perspective :)

Christ by committee??? Interesting. However, I think there is more evidence for Christ being One Being than a Committee...Something so powerful happened back then that we all decided to reset the calendar. Makes you think, does it not?

@Stingray What do you mean by a group of people? Do you mean several humans that walked the earth at the same time? Or do you mean that their human body contained a group consciousness?

@Fairy Princess - The explanation given was that the individual was a composite of a number of other human beings. It's similar to the ideas about the prophecies of Nostradamus actually being produced by a number of different people but using the title as an umbrella name. I'd have to relisten to the recording to get the exact wording used but it was some time ago and I'm not particularly interested in Jesus so I didn't take note of which recording it was. I have a lot of recordings :)

Thanks for the clarification.

Jai and I were talking on this and she believes these links would be the best answer.

I believe he was as God come to earth to teach humankind of who we are that we are him and he is us. He came to teach that it is our belief that separates us from knowledge that we are in God and God is in us. This knowledge he came to teach so that we may find our way back to our true nature. He also came to buy us back from Satan that we have ever lasting life with God again as intended when he first made Adam and Eve. He gave Satan everything because he won it when he convinced Adam and Eve to go against God's wishes. God tried to get us to be back with him through Commandments but God saw we can not follow those even so he finely decided to be our proxy for us and take all our sins for us forever every human being that sincerely accepts that gift of ultimate love does receive it.

Jesus is God click here to find many Bible verses that back it up.

Author C.S. Lewis in his classic, Mere Christianity:

I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon, or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come away with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

This section is about the relevance of the Bible today.

There was a good line in an episode of The Stranger (The Prodigal Son)

This homeless kid is unknowingly talking to Jesus and he says, "Instructions from a 2000 year old story book? What do you think?"

Jesus says, "Actually scholars date the old testament back to the time of Moses. So it is more like a 4000 year old story book."

The boy says, "Well there you go. I mean what could somebody living back then possibly know about our world today?"

Jesus looked at him and said, "Well let's see, what would those people possibly know about poverty, hunger, abandonment? I think they had a pretty clear picture. Details change, truth doesn't."

  1. Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you.

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

  1. Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained.

Split a piece of wood; I am there.

Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."

  1. The disciples said to him, "Your brothers and your mother are standing outside."

He said to them, "Those here who do what my Father wants are my brothers and my mother. They are the ones who will enter my Father's kingdom."

  1. Jesus said, "If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.'

If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.'

If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'" http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/gosthom.html

You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again!'" (John 3:7) "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God!" (Matt. 5:8)

http://injil.org/TWOR/67.html

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.

I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man.

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

  1. Jesus said, "Know what is in front of your face, and what is hidden from you will be disclosed to you.

For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. [And there is nothing buried that will not be raised.]"

  1. His disciples asked him and said to him, "Do you want us to fast? How should we pray? Should we give to charity? What diet should we observe?"

Jesus said, "Don't lie, and don't do what you hate, because all things are disclosed before heaven. After all, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and there is nothing covered up that will remain undisclosed."

  1. Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.

The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. During the days when you ate what is dead, you made it come alive. When you are in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?"

  1. Jesus said, "When you see one who was not born of woman, fall on your faces and worship. That one is your Father."

"For this reason I say, if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness."

  1. Jesus said, "Congratulations to you when you are hated and persecuted; and no place will be found, wherever you have been persecuted."

  2. Jesus said, "Congratulations to those who have been persecuted in their hearts: they are the ones who have truly come to know the Father.

  3. Jesus said, "Whoever is near me is near the fire, and whoever is far from me is far from the (Father's) kingdom."

  4. Jesus said, "Images are visible to people, but the light within them is hidden in the image of the Father's light. He will be disclosed, but his image is hidden by his light."

  5. Jesus said, "When you see your likeness, you are happy. But when you see your images that came into being before you and that neither die nor become visible, how much you will have to bear!"

  6. They said to him, "Tell us who you are so that we may believe in you."

He said to them, "You examine the face of heaven and earth, but you have not come to know the one who is in your presence, and you do not know how to examine the present moment."

  1. Jesus said, "When you make the two into one, you will become children of Adam, and when you say, 'Mountain, move from here!' it will move."

  2. His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?"

"It will not come by watching for it. It will not be said, 'Look, here!' or 'Look, there!' Rather, the Father's kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people don't see it."

Great post white tiger. The message here is so clear, obvious and easy to understand. Although I can imagine if one tries to interpret it through one's own reality it will be seen in a different and limiting way. That's what many people actually do. They try to receive and understand it through the reality they live in. Instead of trying to understand what Jesus said for what it is. Jesus didn't want others to believe in and get to know him, he wanted others to believe and know themselves.

we are made in the image of the father,so get to know the living one inside of you that is you,and eventually you will be ready to go see above in the kingdom of God,the children of god,and God the father the living one outside of you.

To me, Jesus is both a personal, real being that affects my life, enters into my daily thoughts and decisions, and is perhaps my closest friend; also, Christ is a Figurehead, a God-on-Earth, a leader who changed history, a larger-then life-Being.

I say He is both because to me, that is what He is. I have experienced Him personally, and I have felt His presence through the Holy Spirit during Church, and it is quite a feeling of Power and Authority.

I am sure that He lived; I am sure that he died to reconcile Man with God once and for all. All of the Old Testament proves that man cannot follow rules perfectly; we all fall short. God had to find a way to bring us back to "Eden". He did it by coming to Earth and showing us how to live a Holy and good life. He then sacrificed Himself, according to the prophecies of the Old Testament, to fulfill and to end the division between Man and God.

Christ is real, and lives even unto this age.

Peace,

Jai

Hi Fairy Princess, Yes I do believe that Jesus walked the earth and still does so in spirit. To me personaly Jesus is my hero for he lived/lives and taught/teaches from the heart. Love was/is his motto and love was/is his truth for it is only through the love of truth that we shall overcome.

This guy jesus was a handyman, sort of a flunky that had a wife and a gift of gab. People probably tired of his constant "preaching". If he was a hydrid, he probably did have some extra abilities that other people didn't. This would explain why some followed him.

I doubt that few were jalous of is preaching.

why do you think they put him on the cross? he only told the truth, cured and helped people. he add what they could not have.

(25 Sep '12, 15:07) white tiger

He threatned their authority and their distorted truths, when his role was to show us that it be in our best interest to seek the path towards the Light

@GOD the Alien - you may not agree with aspects of Christianity but the core teachings of Jesus - love, compassion, forgiveness, understanding and tolerance are qualities we should aspire to. In fact I believe these are the core teachings of all spiritual paths and you know what - even if you don't believe in spirit, can you honestly think of a better way to live?

(26 Sep '12, 16:15) Catherine

The way that I live has nothing to do with some person that may or may not have lived thousands of years ago. Why must people cling to a book of verses that may or may not be completely accurate. You can be a good person and live a good life without all of this bible/jesus talk. I honestly believ that it is a weakness of man to cling to the writings in the bible and constantly recite verses to may yourself feel better. Put the book down and get out and live.

(27 Sep '12, 07:05) GOD the Alien

As writings are poassed through generations and years and years, how much could they have changed. Words back then don't mean the same things as now, so everything is up to interpretation. I'd hate to think that I based all of my beliefs and what I was inside, to a book.

(27 Sep '12, 07:08) GOD the Alien

How much has the words in Psalms 23 changed in the past 20 years or so. Why is there a need to change the wording. Young people today recite the verse and it is NOT the same as it was when I was young. Minor changes perhaps, but changes just the same. WHY. What else has been re-written in this book that so many base their life on.
