Why do certain people seem to have more success than others in applying "manifesting techniques"? "Manifesting techniques" here refer to a broad range of activities like meditation, focus blocks, visualization, etc. (Thats why the words manifesting techniques are in quotes)

Is it because the people who do not have much success are not applying these techniques correctly? Or is it because of something else that lies even deeper?

I'm intrigued by the question you are asking. Makes me wonder how would you express white color through usage of black one?

It's the same thing, for how do you give a general answer to a questions that clearly indicates that the problem queried is of an individual nature?

"As many truths as men"...everyone relates to the same thing in a different way. That's why they understand the same thing differently. Preferably in the way they have their understanding "designed".

@CalonLan I'm not really sure what you mean here. If you think my question relates more to an individual, then you might be even more intrigued to find more questions that are of much more individual nature on this site.

2

And are not all the answers on this site general and merely opinions? Can anyone honestly say that there is a definite answer to each question? Unlike science and maths, answers on this site are merely opinions and experiences of each individual, no one really knows what is right and what is wrong.

(01 Dec '12, 06:37) kakaboo

@Kakaboo- Great Question.

(01 Dec '12, 10:05) Satori

@kakaboo - you asked why do some people benefit more from "manifestation techniques" than others? - and I said, in other words, well, show me a person who benefits or not and technique he uses and I'll tell you why. 1 person, 1 technique, 1 reason, 1 result, 1 answer. Answer that attempts to answer this question on general level is bound to have endless amount of possibilities and thus none of them can ever be complete answers.

So perhaps now you see the issue that the question creates.

(01 Dec '12, 12:59) CalonLan

@CalonLan and I am just basically saying that every question on this site is the same as this question. There are an endless amount of ways to answer each and every question, because the questions on this site are not like those in science and maths, where there can be a definite answer for one question. All of the other answers on this site to other questions are general too and not complete answers, for they are merely opinions and experiences of other individuals.

(01 Dec '12, 19:11) kakaboo

@Kakaboo, many years ago my mum told me , if you never ask you'll never get an answer , even though we can choose to be anonymous on IQ , it still can require guts to ask your question so good onya :-)

(01 Dec '12, 19:14) Starlight

@kakaboo - yes, a beautiful paradox indeed ;)

(02 Dec '12, 04:40) CalonLan

@kakaboo I think this is a great question - thanks for asking it.

Troubleshooting Your Manifesting Approach

Since you are using the word "manifesting" then I'm assuming that you mean utilizing those techniques (whatever they are) in the pursuit of manifesting something physically rather than just for mastering those techniques in themselves.

From my observations of people who are having trouble with these ideas, I notice four major stumbling blocks again and again.

They are:

  1. Getting stuck in 'Mind'
  2. Lack of emotional sensitivity
  3. Unwillingness to put 'feeling good' first
  4. Lack of consistency

Getting stuck in 'Mind'

All techniques are basically focusing frameworks. They provide a mental structure onto which you project your mental focus. The framework provides guidance for what you should focus on.

The problem here is that because these are mental structures (effectively just mental games we are playing with ourselves), some people mistakenly think that the entire manifesting process is a mental one.

But really it's a emotional process that is guided by that mental (Mind-based) framework.

Without the emotional guidance, one's focus just gets trapped in playing with the minutiae of the rules of the mental structure instead of concentrating on effectively channeling the flow of spiritual/creative energy that the emotional element indicates.

Further information: Do our "thinking minds" play any part in Vibrational-Raising processes or are they just a hindrance?

Also see these comments on how Thought can hinder Manifestations

Lack of emotional sensitivity

Following on from the above, if emotional guidance is lacking then it doesn't matter how much you play with the mental framework, you just don't know how you are flowing that creative energy that leads to physical manifestations.

Modern society, generally, condemns emotions, especially negative ones.

We are so often taught from an early age to put physical action first (above emotion), to "push through" our emotional difficulties, to suppress them and ignore them.

It's no surprise then that so many people have actually shut down their emotional guidance systems - often through the use of drink and drugs - in order to conform.

They've been trained to turn off the only thing in their lives they can truly trust and instead put their guidance into "external" systems such as mainstream religion, government, educational systems etc.

Further information: How can I reconnect with my emotions?

Unwillingness to put 'feeling good' first

Following on from the above, even if you have your emotional guidance system tuned-up, you still need to acknowledge the guidance it gives you.

The simple rule of life is Good Feels Good.

If you don't put this rule first in your life, you're lost...you've got a map but you are just not using it :)

Babies and young children, who have "freshly emerged" from Source, intuitively understand this. Try and make them do things that don't make them feel good and you've got a battle on your hands :)

It takes years of societal programming to make them conform to ideas that other criteria are more important, such as keeping your room tidy, passing exams, or pleasing your boss at work :)

Further information: Why is negativity/lower consciousness so addicting and prevalent?

'Feeling good first' also means being willing to put 'feeling good' first even if there is no sign of you physically getting what you want. You have to not care even if you see no evidence that what you want is coming.

Further information: Why is my manifestation taking so long?

Lack of consistency

Even if you have all the above in place, if you don't apply your chosen technique consistently, you might as well not bother.

I've remarked many times how people are willing to acknowledge that it takes years of practice to play a musical instrument (such as piano, guitar) at a reasonable level and yet many people will only try a "manifesting technique" once or twice before proclaiming that it doesn't work.

Consistent practice creates empowering habits. Empowering habits lead to effortless results.

So while, at the start, there is effort involved in setting up those habits, the habits then take over and the consistency comes automatically.

I notice many people have trouble even getting started and I think it's because they have their senses so entrenched and seduced by the realness of their physical reality that they find it almost impossible to take any steps to move out of it.

Often, it seems to take a life crisis of some kind to provide the impetus to actually get started to creating those empowering habits that lead to consistency.

Further information: Where does apathy fit into the Emotional Guidance Scale and how does a person get out of that feeling?

An excellent way to start on the road to consistency is to try the 30 Day Vortex Challenge

I have pretty good success with manifesting my wants and needs. I can't speak for others, at all, and don't know why they have success or don't since we are all different, and what works for one, doesn't always work for another. Furthermore, what is a good measure of success for one, is not for another. I guess my point is, to relax and not judge the achievements of others, nor weigh them against our own. I never think about the manifesting skills of others! For this reason, I have success. I also never worry about time frames; I allow the universe to work all of that out. In this way, what I want and need all comes to me in good time. I trust it will and it always does.

We have a thinking mind, a feeling mind and an observing mind.

Our subconscious mind speaks to our conscious mind through emotions and feelings and sensations. If our conscious mind is paying attention, it can use this information, like playing the game of Hot and Cold. When these two minds agree, we get beliefs. The thoughts from our conscious mind agrees with the emotions from the subconscious mind and solidify as beliefs. We create our reality with our beliefs.

All around us is potentiality. It is when we observe something that colapses the wave function and selects which version you experience, that becomes your reality. When the two minds agree, and a belief is observed by the observing mind, that is your conscious awareness, the whole that contains the two parts, it crystalizes into reality when the wave function is colapsed.

So, to deliberately manifest, it requires belief, agreement of the thoughts and emotions, and observing yourself express that belief. Change your thoughts to match your emotions, or change your emotions to match your thoughts, or both and observe.

Some really good answers here Kakaboo.

I recently came across an answer from Stingray to a question http://www.inwardquest.com/questions/5901/manifesting-experiment-2-the-focus-blocks-method-manifest-what-you-want-by-deliberately-feeling-better-about-it. Stingray highlighted the need to tackle the small issues with the aim of keeping your vibration high across the board.

I think where some people trip up is that they try to get into the vortex on their big issues so whilst they are consistent and diligent it is hard work. They then never get around to tackling the background noise issues that lower their vibration during the day. I now carry a notebook with me and note down any minor issue during the day ready to add to the list. I'm now working on 40+ focus blocks (3 or 4 a day on a random basis) whereas I used to work hard on three or four issues I had a lot of resistance around.

This is just a part of the puzzle but I was so impressed with Stingray's answer that I thought it worth flagging up here.

There are as many reasons as manifesters, but here are some patterns that I have observed. For any particular manifester, it may be one of these dominant themes, or a combination, or something personal entirely.

Negative beliefs blocking the pathway

This is the most common one, and the easiest to fix. That doesn't mean it's easy to fix- for some desires, personally, I haven't been able to really manifest them for years- but that doesn't mean it won't happen, and my guidance advised against accelerating in some cases, but rather take things step by step, in the order that comes up most naturally.

The best method I have found to clear these has to be Bashar's method- feel the feeling, ask yourself what you would have to believe in order to feel this, and then recognize that a belief that is consciously exposes and also nonsensical (as negative beliefs are, by definition), will take care of itself- disintegrate spontaneously.

The tricky part is how much negative energy you can tolerate to experience at once, which is a precondition for exposing the underlying belief.

Irrelevance

So casually, I'm sure a lot of us would rather have a million bucks than not have the million bucks- but that's not what manifesting is. Manifesting is becoming one with an energy with no ifs and buts- it's to become that energy fully. You may not mind throwing some dough around- but you may very well mind what that may do to your interpersonal relationships. Your perception may change, even so subtly, and you may require yourself to receive the million bucks in a specific way in order for it to work positively for you. Finally, the million bucks may simply be an interesting idea but when push comes to shove, you would much rather have a more ascetic lifestyle that involves more things you need happening spontaneously, and having too much money might distract you from that. This is all in the example of the million bucks- but manifesting something, anything, always has consequences, so to get the best effect, you need to manifest the right group of things that work for you overall, which brings you in touch with ideas and themes that you may have chosen for this lifetime even before you were born.

In the end, manifesting stuff is completely irrelevant- except in that it happens automatically when you achieve the state of being, of vibration, that is right for you, and that may or may not have anything to do with states of being and having that are commonly considered fashionable or fashionably desirable in our society. They might even violate those as a matter of course, as in a fat person who, somehow, magically to other, but vibrationally to his or herself, is considered enormously charming to others. This might even be a theme for that person- violate the society agreement, achieve success anyway, and make a point. Hello to Beth Ditto, at this point.

This brings as to the point that manifesting is both a side effect and a springboard to developing yourself, and there may be a whole lot of reasons why a particular object of manifestation might not show up simply because it would just get in the way of more important stuff.

Negativity

Some things we would like to manifest are plain bad for us. For example, you might be, conceivably, incarnated as an alcoholic themed person, and the greatest joy you can imagine at some point would be to have a fifteen thousand dollar bottle of brandy delivered to your door every day.

This might be so exciting it would motivate you to make some improvements, perhaps meditate, or work on yourself constructively in some way- and then you may realize, that great brandy stood for something different- perhaps having less of a hangover, as it happens to be with better booze. But now, after doing all that physically motivated spiritual work, you may no longer desire so much to have the brandy- you already have what you needed from it- less hangovers. So you may abandon the manifestation- you got what you needed from it, what it stood for, its positive essence, even though the idea was still negative- just a little less negative than what you had. Things like overly perfect lovers or becoming a poor person's idea of a rich man go in that direction- or perhaps an overly afraid person who wants the perfect weapon realizes what he really wanted was peace and confidence. Those are all very good reasons to abandon a manifestation for something better- and even better reasons to start manifesting absolutely anything that sounds exciting, because, abandoning it or not, the act of moving in that direction is a positive one!

Overcompensation

A person might manifest something that still represents a negative idea, but unconsciously cancel out the manifestation because it still represents a negative belief. This is very simple to the negative idea above, but goes into another direction: It's so desperately positive that the true handwriting is negative, because the overall balance is out of what. A poor person manifesting lots of gold chains may be an example, or a dumb person getting ten PhDs and abandoning his or her family in the process, or a lazy person becoming an extreme workaholic and still feeling he never did well enough. You can go ahead and manifest these, uneasy feeling and all, but if you cancel them because they don't feel right, that may be more of a sign of awareness than of failure.

Motivational issues

At the end of the day, we are after vibrations- we want the feeling of something, and the feeling of something is interwoven into who we understand ourselves to be. Right now, as I am writing this, I am motivated by a craving to teach, the enjoyment of wordsmithing, the satisfaction that I may be upvoted, representing that someone appreciates that I helped them, and even more strongly, a thirst for knowledge that seems to clarify when I answer questions, to the best of my ability, for others. I would be writing very differently if I were motivated by, say, the desire to please my father xxx33f who knows I am cmc and is also registered to this site, but who himself never quite has the stomach to just go ahead and say he loves me because he is afraid. In those cases, I could manifest all I wanted to, and use all the techniques I wanted to, and clear all I wanted to, if I were caught in trying to please my father by writing on an online forum, I might do very well, and I even might get all kinds of votes, but the whole endeavour would still have a kind of fruitless feel to it. As it is, I am really enjoying myself. But if I wasn't, I would be best served to cancel my manifestation of writing in an online community, clear the negative belief that is represented by my misguided motivation in writing, and go do something that genuinely excites me, like snowboarding or breeding horses with the tribesmen of the Serengeti.

Identity

For years, I was both very fascinated by Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, and slightly appalled by it.

Fascinated, because it represented to me a can-do mentality that was previously lost on me, and a perspective of receiving a lot of recognition. But it was also slightly appalling because of the strong emphasis on money, which, in my culture, was deemed to be superficial. Indeed, looking at Napoleon's own biography, it would appear that he changed his approach from the idea that things would take care of themselves with enough money, to a more balanced approach that did involve plenty of material abundance, but also plenty of immaterial good things. The point for me was that Napoleon, if he lived today, would definitely not hang around in the same bars as me. I loved his ideas on the means to get thins, but I was quite perplexed on what appeared to be the mentality below it- he rubbed me the wrong way, because he was, in my subcultural parlance, a square. Reading is work triggered in me a quest to reconcile the two approaches, and it would appear that I'm not doing that a bad job- but it's really, really hard. We're talking about what amount to tribal customs here, and modifying those can be very, very difficult to do because they involve changing foundations that can bring so very much security. So you may be cancelling all kinds of manifestations because you want your peers to still love you, and you want to belong. I haven't entirely solved this, except that I decided to use my mind less and my feelings and heart more when being with people, which softened the seperation considerably.

Confusion

You might also be completely contradicting yourself- you could really want to be a hero, in the traditional sense, a James Bond like cool guy, and you might also really want to express yourself with great tenderness to a woman whos company you enjoy (make up a good story with reversed gender cliches if you like as a different example). You might want to get rich and keep enjoying thoughts of Ghandi's asketicism. You might want to live a hedonistic lifestyle and really enjoy the Iron Person teachings from Zen, who are happy in daunting circumstances. You might want to travel the world and enjoy the simplicity of being a hermit. You might really enjoy the company, and the physical blending, with people of the same sex as you, but you might still enjoy the ideal of being well integrated with a traditional society. You might enjoy many conventional cultural teachings, and also many new ones. You may want to fit in and stand out, be loud and quite, maybe even aggressive, and yet peaceful, just and serene. You may want to be it all at once, and that's only natural, because that's all you are and all that is- and then, you don't need manifestations, because you're just fine as you are- but wasn't the whole point of physical existence to chose?

I recommend to integrate what you can and relegate to alternate realities what you can't, and bless it and occasionally do alittle of it, and let it be what it is over there, and do what you do right here. You can chose here in physical reality, and still experience everything as a soul- that's your nature, in fact.

Now what?

So these are all kinds of reasons that manifestations might not work out as planned. The moral of the story is probably that things don't normally go as planned, but you don't have to mind that- it will certainly bring you somewhere, and you don't need to really know where. Treat every manifestation as whatever you needed to here to make you grow, and great if it comes, and great if it changes your outlook to go for something different. Also, look back, from time to time, to all the stuff you manifested that you might not even be aware of any more because you are playing Tetris with your mind, worrying about the blocks that are still there, but not checking out all the ones you completed and made disappear. By all means, if something is a recurring desire theme, keep at it, and never, ever give up, just like the old tough school of life would advise you to- but there is nothing wrong with lightening up on the way for good measure. But as for every fleeting thing, those might serve you just as well if they're just symbols that come and go and might just fall by the wayside for someone else to deal with. The wisdom is knowing which is which, but that's fairly automatic- you get to say what's important to you by what the things are where you keep having at it, and noticing it makes you feel good.

So what about the people who can manifest well?

People who can manifest easily generally integrated the most aspects of their being into their manifestation. They are clear and concise in what they ask for, and their goals align well with their life purpose and what their body enjoys and squares with the archetype of their identity and also the types of beliefs they are clearing away at. They also are the kind of person the manifesting approach itself is well suited for- pragmatists who love spiritual growth but also enjoy surfing reality, so to speak- and, with a little more practice, and at a certain level right now- I am guessing that this applies to you!

There's a certain amount of faith in manifesting that you have to have for manifesting. After faith, practice and understanding (educating yourself on the manifesting techniques, etc.) help one to become better at manifesting. As far as inner work goes, you have to be ready and willing, and you have to dig deep sometimes.
