Do we just make up a spiritual explanation of mundane and/or inner psychological experience, rationalizing away any evidence that contradicts it for the sake of hiding from our awareness of life's finitude and our lack of control? Is spirituality merely a delusion? Please justify your answer. It is my hope that someone will help convince me that the answer is no.

The phrase "Love and Light" is often seen here. Change your interpretation of spirituality to love. When you know love you know spirituality. The Idea of God as separate from you is a misconception (God,Source, the universe). If you think of your soul/spirit as a line extending from horizon to horizon that you see neither beginning nor end of. and this physical phase of this line is just a dot of light along it. Preceded and followed by a multitude of dots of light. Then think of countless strands of theses crossing each other running parallel to each other.@Jaiannia describes it well in this question there is no existential terror as such this terror you describe comes from within ones own-self.Negative beliefs and preconceptions .Take the "God" out of the clouds looking down and judging you to a "God" that fills and radiates from within you Love and Light! What is love? Consider this question. How does God know he is God?

a few minutes ago I comment on something calonlan said in a comment with: "I had a brain storm, what if you consider love more than a emotion. It is an energy,a vibration.That we are born with.It,s like your heart beat. Always with you.Until you are no longer psychically here ,then it follows you into the eternal!?" as far as "god" is concerned I sure it/he/she has many identities and realizes all of them.

Perhaps...Just perhaps...somewhere deep inside you...is a desire to feel The Spiritual of Life. There have been many who have. Down through the ages, men and women have had inexplicable spiritual experiences which proved to them, at least, that there is a Spiritual World just Outside this one, and it weaves itself into our lives because we are not just physical, but spiritual, too. When I was a small child, I left my body and flew! I did! I always wondered at this, until one dark day, I needed that memory. I had to remember because the experience proved to me that I have a Soul, separate from my body. It was not hallucination...I was too young for such nonsense. i was not stoned, drugged, insane, or intellectualizing. I was a small girl, just experiencing. Those who experience God or the Spirit are called Mystics. They sense the Presence of Spirit, and have written many, many things about what they have seen and felt. I learned a saying long ago which helps me with this sometimes: "If you cannot believe in a God of your own, Borrow Mine." It works. I freely welcome you to try out my God! Yes, you are confused. If you believe some experiences are "hallucinations" and some are "real", you are deluded if you believe a child cannot hallucinate; children hallucinate often because their brainwaves are closer to a dream state and their sensations are not well integrated. What you experienced is a well known phenomenon called lucid dreaming and you are only assuming that it means what you think it means.

You would have to have an experience which actually had some sort of cause/effect relationship with your everyday experience to come even close to "proving" to yourself anything of the sort.

An example would be the experiences that Neville Goddard claimed to have. He used his imagination to create an effect in the world which proved to him that there was no such thing as a "hallucination", only two different spheres of experience, the natural and the spiritual, which were not separate but deeply connected. All so-called hallucinations, regardless of how they are achieved, are spiritual experiences.

@flowsurfer- I choose to believe the experience was REAL. I use the word "hallucination" to DIFFERENTIATE it from a dream, lucid or not. I know it was real- I saw real people doing real things while outside my body- I saw my father working in the garage, and told him that I saw him while I was flying. I should not have to argue my reality with anyone.

@flowsurfer- This phenomenon has been experienced by many- it is called an OBE. You must know that. To me, it proves we have souls. I refuse to argue semantics any further with you.

I'm not saying it was not real, I'm saying it was precisely as real as a dream. An OBE is a dream; or if you want to put it another way, a dream is an OBE. This is regardless of its quality. If dreams are real or not, I don't know.

spirituality exist you just need to experience it. but if your awareness is only on the outside you do not see what is on the inside. then you do not know your self. and because you do not know your self you do not know other. and it gives the world that you are experiencing now. the more you will know your self and the more you will know other.and the better you can make wise decision with your free will. but if you do not know your self you live in poverty and you are that poverty. how can you live a good life in harmony if you fear other and think that they want to hurt you. even if they try to help you you will reject them judge them and be afraid of them. to the mesure you judge also will you be judge. so is that what you want in life? you allready have seen that is what is happening in your life right now is it not? do you think still think that it is only a merely psycological defense mecanisms? or a knowledge of the inner and the outer in truth to solve the duality? as to convince you or make you believe what ever you want,that belong to you and is part of your free will. and if you believe that we are not telling you the truth take the blue pill go to sleep and you can believe what ever you want. I am not afraid of people, I am afraid of God. I don't judge you. There are some judgemental reactions that sometimes pop up but I don't take them seriously. You on the other hand is full of judgement. The only duality is between Man and God; Man is experience, the effect of God which is cause, or reality. God is the external which shapes man, the internal. Man is a screen of consciousness, within that screen an experience takes place which is the Word of God, his conversation with Man.

Life itself is irrational. And few are able to understand contradicting nature of it. Most are afraid to understand, thus they side with rational ideas and philosophies. Like recognizing only side of existential terror.
@calonlan if i told you that life is very rationnal and that only because people are not aware and do not know that they find it very irrationnal. they are only at the very first step of their journey.and that is why it gives the experience that you are having right now. should you fear and be terrorize?
@white tiger, the only rational thing about life is its irrationality. But I spoke of rationality with which people side, as opposed to irrationality from which they run away, which in fact is just as rational as the other rational part they side with. But it is these two rational parts opposing each other that create irrationality people fear. Although as said, it's this irrationality of life that's perfectly rational.
flowsurfer, it is just the other way around, the truth is and our task to see and hear it with clarity
