Christians believe that God is the all-mighty and all-knowing creator. If this is true then I ask, why would God CONTINUE to create what he did KNOWING that it would backfire?? would that not be the definition of stupidity?? it makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

Here, let me elaborate a bit. Now if you look at it from a biblical perspective, right? God created us perfect but we HUMANS screwed up because we were deceived by Satan when we ate from the Tree of Knowledge which God said do NOT eat from. He gives us the whole garden but said "This one tree do not eat from, for if you do, you shall surely die." But Satan appeared to eve and replied, "You shall not die if you eat from it, but you will become like God knowing right from wrong." So Eve then decided to eat from the tree, followed by Adam. When God found out he was VERY ANGRY and said, "SIN has entered your heart, and the punishment for sin is death," and then Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden. so basically my point is, if God KNEW what would happen (and it didn't please him) yet he CONTINUED to create it anyways, WHY THE BLANK WOULD HE DO SO??

He then goes on later to say (during noah's time and the great flood), "I REGRET ever creating this earth and everything in it, so I will cause a great flood to destroy it," but he spares Noah and his family for they were pure in heart. Then ON TOP of all that, he has to send his son (Jesus) to DIE for the sins of these people so that they can be saved(clean of sin/perfect once again). Once again, if you already KNEW all this would happen, and it DISPLEASED YOU, then WHY would you still go forth and create it anyways?? ITS MESSED UP BRO!

So if you guys can clear this up somehow, then please feel free to try and do so.

remmember. this question is towards (jews, christians, muslims) who all have the same idea of god and creation. according to these three faiths god created us perfect but with free will of course. but eve was decieved in the garden of eden by satan(who came in the form of a serpent) and therefore she "sinned". and this is where the concept of sin arrised from. now this is where my question comes in.

(19 Feb '10, 18:36) Mebb

What do you mean by "backfire?" Any meaningful answer to your question is going to depend on how you define that word.

(19 Feb '10, 18:40) Vesuvius

also according to the three faiths satan was also created perfect and had free will. he was an angel and was amungst the highest ranks within the angelic community. but he had jealousy in his heart and decided that he could become greater then god. so god then expelled him and a third of the other angels from heaven. once again, this is where my question comes in.

(19 Feb '10, 18:40) Mebb

vesuvius im bascially saying that if all these things are true right?? that god is the almighty and all KNOWING creator and he already KNOWS what will happen if he does continue to create these things(earth, angels, humans etc.) and STILL CONTINUES to do so. would that not be pointless/stupid?? remmebr, this is comming from a BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE, NOT YOUR OWN.

(19 Feb '10, 18:45) Mebb

I've deleted Mebb's answer to this question since Vesuvius has now incorporated it into the question itself

I am intrigued by the question. I don't feel qualified to answer it (in truth, it is probably a question for my pastor), but I look forward to seeing some of the posted answers.

My wife has a delightful, irreverent sense of humor with an underlying meaning. She says it is because we are a bad influence on God. He tried and tried and we keep messing it up!

From an esoteric perspective you are talking about the circle of experience, How we start out with everything perfect but ignorance of the fact since we know nothing else. Then we have to lose what we have slowly until at the extreme opposite side of the circle we have the exact opposite of what we had to start with. Then slowly returning back toward the beginning but this time return in full conscious awareness. Because we have through falling learned from losing and regaining in this loss and came to the understanding of what was wanted and not wanted in other words knowledge of good and evil.

With that knowledge of good and evil we gain in compassion and awareness of experience as we grow into the Gods we are meant to become: The children of God growing into the the adults or Gods themselves. But through all of this we experience the highs and lows to gain a greater understanding, like an artist learns from mistakes but experiences the joy of creating correctly from the pain of messing up. This makes an artist a great artist because the more he messes up the more he awakens and the more he cares to make things as best as he can.

It is a great joy to learn if you just look at a child learning something new with excitement and wonder. Now imagine the joy of seeing your sons and daughters of Earth learning new things in wonder these are things you already know but to them it is something they believe was never discovered before. All of these experiences built upon the next leading up to the greatest awakening that of fully grown fully awake Gods creating our own universes to start the process over again so this time we can experience what God experienced.

I know you say why didn't God just duplicate it self and make us all Gods exactly alike? In that case there would be no universe no material world, just mind really, to me that would not be very fun it would be boring. So maybe God was bored and wanted to have some fun creating, as creating is the most joyful thing you can do. The greatest fun is in conflict even though it is all just a game as nothing is real except in consciousness.

well, comming from your personal persepctive i do understand wade. but comming from a BIBLICAL one to me it is VERY HARD to undertstand. do you not agree??

Yes I know if you asked a pastor that insist on every answer being Biblical there would not be an answer. The bible doesn't answer every question because for it to there would have had to have been a teaching to match every question, but the bible was written by men of things that happened in the past and others as visions such as the story of Adam and Eve, even though Moses wrote it, he wasn't there personally.

@wade casaldi in saying, "The greatest fun is in conflict even though it is all just a game as nothing is real except in consciousness."

Instead of conflict, could you substitute 'contrast'? Or perhaps 'co-creating'? For me the greatest fun is co-creating.

(12 Mar '12, 07:03) Dollar Bill

@Dollar Bill What I meant by that is challenge. It is the conflict in a video game that makes it fun. All of those ghost chasing you around in Pac-Man makes the game fun. That is the conflict you fight against to get all the dots. How fun would it be if all you had to do was get all the dots and there were no ghost chasing you? The same in life when we overcome conflicts that is fun! Climbing that mountain is hard that is why people do it! Because if it weren't for gravity and jagged rocks...

(12 Mar '12, 10:07) Wade Casaldi

@Dollar Bill If it weren't for gravity and jagged rocks, slippery dirt, all the conflict stopping you from getting up that mountain then it wouldn't be exciting reaching the top and shouting "I made it!!!!!!" "Whewwwwwwwweeee!!!!!" I did it!!!!!" Jumping up and down a little while feeling good, then stopping to relax and enjoy the reward of the breath taking view. :-) The same holds true in life for every conflict we overcome we feel good like we achieved something really worth while.

(12 Mar '12, 10:12) Wade Casaldi

@wade Casaldi There are many paths up the (allegorical) mountain, some have rocks and jagged places, some have slippery slopes, some have helicopter landing pads.

That your path has rocks and gravity and you like that path is fine with me. I used to find conflict and struggle exciting, and my life was filled with obstacles to overcome. I felt I had to work hard in order to succeed and the genie answered, "Your wish is my command!" Now I like attaining the goal in an easy manner.

(12 Mar '12, 12:10) Dollar Bill

@wade Casaldi If my goal was the breathtaking view, I would take the helicopter. I don't need the struggle of the journey to reach a joyous destination. I would stand on top of that mountain, and a dozen others and enjoy the view, but I would get there with ease.

Please understand that this is just my path. I greatly respect your path and your desire to attain, climb, feel the exertion of your muscles, feel the rock and snow under you, the challenge of your journey. Whatever feels good, do it.

(12 Mar '12, 12:18) Dollar Bill

Very nicely put, @wade casaldi! I really like your answer.

(13 Mar '12, 13:16) Dollar Bill

@Dollar Bill I think a helicopter ride might be very exciting too. I now know what it is like to fly inside of a jet airplane. It was amazing and exhilarating! The whole trip there and back, amazing!

Thank you I am glad you liked my answer. :-)

With all due respect Mebb you stated in your question, and said: It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. My question to you is: What makes sense to you; I would be most curious to hear what you think?

Mebb you said: Why the blank would he do so?? In all fairness: What do you think? I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this.

Mebb: you said: then Why would you still go forth and create it anyways. Why do you think he went on creating? I would really love to hear you’re true thoughts on this one!

Here are my thoughts: We came into this world and met all these questions, and answers, that are still questions, and answers that are incomplete, why because no one really knows the truth. Now the choice is yours, as to what you want to believe the truth to be.

You can choose to believe in the word of God, or you can choose to believe in whatever else makes sense to you. If Eve did not disobeyed God and committed sin, I do not think you, and I would have been born into this world, and we certainly would not be having this very spiritual conversation today.

Why because, if there were no sin, Adam, and Eve would not have been cast out of the Garden of Eden, and their fate would have been different. Who knows, probably they would be still living in the Garden of Eden with God, as a one happy Holy family, and you and I would not have had the opportunity to be born into this world. Everything would have been different, of course. There would have been no sin, no death, no Jesus, and Adam, and Eve would be still living in the Garden of Eden with God happily!

As you know the Bible teaches we were all born into sin from Adam, and Eve. It is because of Eve, and Satan that we are born into sin. Of course, if you believe in something other than God, then of course you would have a different opinion, and none of this would make sense anyways. But take heed, Eve sinned, and we were given life.

So take some time, search your heart, and find your truth, if you have not done so already. If you already know who created this universe, and man, please free to share it with us. We would be very happy to learn from you, what is the answer?

But listen up: what we do not know would not hurt us, if you do not know the answer that okay too. On a more positive note, let us continue to ask questions, and search for answers, and maybe, just maybe one day we might find the truth.

You have asked a highly spiritual question: I hear your concerns, and I hear your frustration, but it is what it is, and we are here together in this universe as one people enjoying each other’s company, what more can we ask for?

Since we are able to count our blessings one by one, let us pause for one minute to give thanks for the gift of Life, and for the breath that we breathe in and out, regardless of our religious beliefs; because without life in our bodies we are nothing, we return to the dust, and this is a truth for all of us.

Peace, Love, Unity, One Fellowship!

hi vee:) shlama ilaqh qhayee (peace be with you my life). and YES, i agree with you vee, absoloutly. there are many things that are out of are hands and we must just " go with the flow" as they say. the only reason i did post this question is because this is one of the main reasons i started to belive that the bible had been "misinterperted" and was therefore not the exact word of god. also i am really curious to see peoples responses to this, because honestly... I JUST DONT GET IT! only thing that makes sense to me is that the bible then is not 100 percent the word of god, but still has truth

(20 Feb '10, 18:03) Mebb

Yes Mebb I believe since it was inspired by God but written by humans it has a very human perspective and interpretation of events. This being said and with our limited understanding and communication barrier as we humans wrote the visions and the old stories down it was filtered through our limitations. Like something two dimensional could not write of something three dimensional it would be an approximation explained in two dimensions.

Mebb you are not alone, there are things that I just don't get either. But my motto in life is to be a good listener, keep an open mind, and to remember there is always two sides to a story. Also, that I can take away with me what I want from my learning experience. Life is good!

Hello…

This question is a great example of why Biblical understanding CANNOT be achieved through anyone’s FEELINGS. The implications of this question can only be determined by the analysis of Biblical FACTS. This question can only be addressed by knowing certain aspects of GOD’s Character, Foreknowledge, and Judgments as outlined in the Word of GOD. Relying on your FEELINGS in order to gather the scope and magnitude of these things is absolute nonsense. Your FEELINGS will only succeed in giving you a private interpretation of the Biblical GOD resulting in doctrinal ERROR.

In the end, factual Biblical analysis will reveal that GOD is an absolute, distinct Creator who, from the immeasurable goodness and kindness of His heart, desired and chose to have a personal relationship with His Creations in an iniquity-free Eternity:

(1) GOD’s Character: There is Diversity in Creation

Before time, GOD had need of nothing. The [3] personal aspects of the GODHEAD (the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost) were, are, and will always be in complete unity, harmony, and balance. At a specific point, GOD willingly CHOSE to create. The first creation consisted of the Heavenly (the Throne, the Temple, the sons of GOD, Cherubims, Seraphims, the ranks of the Angels, etc). The second creation was Earthly (the light, the firmament, the gathering of waters, the grass from the earth, the herbs from the earth, the trees from the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, the animals from the waters, the animals from the earth, Adam from the dust of the ground, the Garden of Eden, and Eve from Adam’s rib). Therefore, the diversity of GOD’s creations demonstrates the depth and variety of His character. GOD willingly CHOSE to create in this fashion in order to manifest His power, His personality, and His presence to the whole of His creation from one generation to the next.

(2) GOD’s Foreknowledge: There is Choice in Creation

Because GOD chose to create, He also imparted the responsibility of CHOICE to His creation. Therefore, any of GOD’s creations (visible or invisible) possessing the capability of independent thought and reason has been given FREE WILL. Lucifer was the anointed Cherub, but he chose to become Satan. This rebellion destroyed the first creation. Then, Satan seduced Eve, and she chose to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Next, Adam (who had dominion over the second creation) chose Eve over GOD by also eating of the fruit, and this choice corrupted the second creation.

However, even before all these events took place, GOD’s Foreknowledge never hindered His choice and ability to create. Obviously, GOD knew beforehand of Lucifer’s downfall, Eve’s seduction, and Adam’s disobedience. However, His desire was to establish a personal relationship with each of His creations in a FREE WILL manner. Because of this, GOD did not create living, pre-programmed robots for His pleasure. GOD did not, does not, and will never FORCE anyone to have a personal relationship with Him. Of his own FREE WILL, a person must CHOOSE to have a personal relationship with GOD. Despite His Foreknowledge, GOD still chose to create man because He knew that He would eventually take the form of a man (Jesus Christ), provide Himself as a perfect blood sacrifice in order to offer the only acceptable Holy payment for man’s sins, and permanently establish personal relationships for Eternity. Thus, GOD willingly CHOSE to create in this fashion in order to manifest His love, His mercy, and His redemption to the whole of His creation from one generation to the next.

(3) GOD’s JUDGMENTS: There is Authority in Creation

In addition to showing us His Character through creational diversity and desiring to have a personal relationship with His creations despite His Foreknowledge, GOD has decreed a perfect Eternity. Before Eternity can begin, there must be the destruction of the mystery of iniquity. Evil must be completely eliminated. Therefore, different generations are judged at different times and under different conditions in relation to GOD’s prophetic time-line. With various judgments throughout the generations, GOD adds members to the Heavenly family. Every soul that comes to GOD in a FREE WILL manner is a SAVED soul and stands as a testimony against Satan and his angels because of their chosen rebellion. Through prophecy, GOD allows man to know the reason and timeframe for each judgment beforehand, and man is always given the opportunity for repentance in order to avoid the judgment. This is also a testimony against every man who chooses to discard, mock, or blaspheme the authority of GOD in all spiritual matters. Thus, GOD willingly CHOSE to create in this fashion in order to manifest His holiness, His perfection, and His justice to the whole of His creation from one generation to the next.

In conclusion, GOD could have chosen to create from an infinite number of possibilities. However, as preserved for us in the Bible, He chose to create in the manner that best displays His personality and intentions towards His creation. GOD’s decision to create was a PERSONAL choice. Thus, man is also encouraged to know GOD on a PERSONAL level through Jesus Christ. This could only be achieved by hearing, reading, studying, and believing the Words of GOD as He preserved them for man in the Bible without error.

Thanks for reading.

I am inclined to agree with you, but I don't just dare...The sense of your says appears (me, personaly) to be too beautiful for be true. which time when I read you, I am stricken by your certitude' tone. It is accompanied by a couple of feelings: one good feeling (it says to be the intuition "voice" of acceptance) and a deep, strange tonality inquietude (not fear, nor alarm). Why are you so certain you are right? If you a ready to answer: "by faith", I declare prevently it is not enough. Faith isn't so simply like "the sun snines" or "wind blows". WHAT DO YOU KNOW and we don't? FROM WHERE?

(29 Jun '10, 09:19) Gleam

On your opinion, could we appreciate that the CO-cration of man is the third-ranking creation? (Understanding that the man manifesting is in the respects of GOD created rules, expressed by using the "CO" word particle).

(29 Jun '10, 12:12) Gleam

Gleam: "WHAT DO YOU KNOW?": I know GOD's Words. "FROM WHERE?": From the Book collecting His Words-the Bible. "BY FAITH?": Yes, by Faith based on Biblical FACTS (history, geography, politics, prophecy, doctrine, etc). The authority you sense is NOT mine. GOD's Words are the authority. There are only two creations: Heavenly and Earthy [I Corinthians 15:48]. Man cannot 'manifest' thoughts or 'co-create' anything into existence. Given dominion over the earth, man can only manipulate EXISTING matter or energy. In contrast, only GOD can create something from NOTHING!

I have heard this question many times and even asked myself. I want to share one of several stories with you.

On October 17th, 2010; I cried tears of joy with my wife this day. This is my testimony to tell and to share with all.

My wife and I have been married for over 17 years now and for 17 years we have had a good life. We had something missing from our lives and our marriage.

I have to blame myself for this for I have lead my family down the wrong path for the past 17 years. I must take responsibility for this. As the man of the house we are responsible for leading our families and that goes for the spiritual as well.

I let my past experiences dictate how we have lived for the past 17 years and I have looked poorly upon Church because of these experiences. Now a few months ago something told me to change my path "It is TIME!". Now let me tell you, my preacher can tell you some stories about "TIME" but this story will have to wait for another day.

I started going to this small Church on a Wednesday night service a couple of months ago. Funny thing is I went North of Atlanta this day and I made a deal with God; "If I got back in time, I will go and give Church another shot." If you have ever traveled north of Atlanta, GA and tried to get home before dark that evening, you know this is almost impossible due to traffic. Well this day I took my time, I did not get angry when I was cut off, I told myself "Oh well I have time and if I do not make it then it was not meant to be." You have to understand, something has been pulling at me for a while now and I kept telling myself "Later, I will do it later." This day I was pulled hard and this is why I said "Lord, I have to go to a class today north of Atlanta and if I make it back in time, I will go to Church."

I left north of Atlanta at about 5:00 PM, the same time when everyone is trying to make it home. Can you picture that traffic yet? Needless to say, I made it back to Coweta County with an hour to spare, so I grabbed dinner in a drive through and still had time to make it to Church, sit in the parking lot and eat. I even had time to walk around and say hello to others who got there early also. From this night forward I knew and felt in my heart, I was doing the right thing and this was where I was meant to be. What about my family that I have lead astray for so many years? I cannot force them after so many years to go to Church, I knew that this would not work. So I talked to the Preacher and explained my dilemma to him. He told me you just keep coming and they will eventually follow.

I continued and still continue to go to this Church and eventually two of my kids who still live at home began coming to Church with me but not my wife. Of course she did as I have done for so many years, make excuses why not to go. "I have nothing to wear", "I work six days a week, this is my day off.", "I will go later."

On October 17th, 2010, my wife got up and went to Church with me, now this is not the tears of joy but I was a proud man this day just because she did get up and go with me. I was honored that she sat next to me this day on the pew.

On this day we had home coming at the Church and a special preacher held our service today. He spoke of paths we are on and to switch course without looking back. He spoke of knowing if our spouse was saved or not. Now this hit home to me because I have been married for over 17 years to my wife and had no clue whether or not she had been saved. I knew she had to be asking herself the same question about me.

This day was a very special day because we had a feast after service today and boy was it a feast. This is still not my tears of joy but there was enough food there to make any grown man cry tears of joy. I walked up to the special Preacher of the day and I told him, he was right I had no clue if my wife had been saved or not. I took this opportunity to find out, so I went and found my wife and brought her to the special Preacher in hopes to find out this puzzling question. Little did I know this was going to do more than I ever imagined.

I got the answer to my question and my wife was Saved on October 17th, 2010 standing outside amidst several strangers to my wife. While my wife was speaking to the special Preacher of the day, she broke down and started crying. These were not tears of fear or tears of shame but tears of joy. I began to cry with my wife and I know deep in my heart that these were tears of joy because I fight now to hold back these tears as I tell this story. I am the most Proud husband on this October 17th, 2010 and would not trade it for anything in this world for I know now that I will get to be with my wife here and thereafter. We will be together on earth and in Heaven. How many get to say that?

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I profess it today and ask if you do not know this, seek him out and find your answers. All I ask is that all who read this remember that it is not for us to understand, he works in his own way. Are you listening to what he has to say to you today?

I will cry everyday that a sole is saved for it is a great day to rejoice but when it is one sole that is so close to my heart I will cry all day, tears of joy.

My wife spoke to me this day after all was said and done. She told me that she felt him calling to her during the service but she did not go because she did not want to embarrass herself. Again I cried while smiling to my wife and said "There is nothing to be embarrassed of or to be ashamed of." I wrapped my arms around her and let her know that I was so proud of her.

People please no matter how others act or behave, do not let them dictate your salvation. If you let him, the devil will use this to his advantage and then when your time comes, he wins. Time is a concept that we know in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. You may not have another second, minute, hour, day, week, month, or year. Seek him and yea shall receive.

Thank you for reading this and knowing the happiness I know. I leave names out because this easily could be your story as it was mine on October 17th, 2010.

Thank you to all who were able to share this with us on this day.

God created us with free will. Even though, he knew we would fall, He knew He would restore our relationship through Christ. I believe that it is like the Choose Your Own Adventure books, where there are different paths we take depending on our choices. God created alternate realities (some people call them alternate universes, but if God is the Universe, then there is no other universe, so alternate realities) so that He could give us free will. When we have children, we do it knowing that they will go through the terrible two's, this is not the purpose of having children, to always have a two year old. That child will grow up and go through each age dealing with different problems and difficulties according to their age and maturity. The goal of having children is not to be the parent of a teenager forever, the teenager will grow up also and become an adult. Even the adult goes through changes as we grow and learn on a higher level than when we were immature children growing physically and learning all the basics, walking, talking, writing, reading, cooking, etc... We refine ourselves more as adults, molding and shaping mentally and spiritually. Collectively as a people of the earth, we have gone through the ages, starting out as infants-hunters and gatherers, then we grew in knowledge and understanding and invented the wheele and fire, and grew more through the ages learning more about the world we live in and learning the basics, developing more skill and understanding as we-collectively grow and mature into adulthood. I have not refined this idea yet by comparing actual ages of Man collectively and the ages of man individually. I did look up the age of enlightenment to see what it is because I used that term to describe the age we are going into now, and my son said there was already that age, so, it could just be the second age of enlightenment. Anyway, I believe we are entering an age of collective enlightenment, and adult age where we can develope our mental and spiritual self collectively. I believe that when we do reach that mature adulthood it will be a beautiful, glorious age, a time of communion and fellowship with God. We are not done, and God is not done with us yet.

are we not confusing the boundless first cause with the involution of stages into manifested form. there was a reason for the trinity, one begat two, one and two begat three, and from there on down a lowerarchy of existence until mankind was fashioned, in a plan to be a man-god after learning on earth how to balance intellect and intuition. we are evolving according to the divine plan, inspite of ourselves and our follies.

(26 Feb '11, 01:21) fred

Fred, if that was so, God would not have said, "Beside me there is no other God." and "All of creation was made for him and by him (Jesus, the Word)." If He was created, then He could not have been the creator of all.

I enjoyed the videos Ruth, when I see the name Jesus Christ I feel a great love, compassion, comfort, and happiness. I also feel the authority over all manner of sickness, pain, suffering, devils and demons.

I am leaning towards this world being the creation of a rebellious few (and it did backfire on us didn't it) and that Jesus came to save us from ourselves and show us the way Home.

Old Testament is just a representation of ideas, it is very symbolic, and therefore easier to understand. That's what a christian would tell you.

From my point of view, the whole Holy Bible is just a representation. You will find inspiration inside, but you will not find the exact truth in it. For example, it is impossible to find logic in God actions as you proved.

The only truth is inside us. Treating one scripture as our main source of wisdom and faith is flawed, especially as we don't know how to interprete it. This is what Jehovah's witnesses do. They think that by analysing Bible even more the truth will be revealed to them.

Even Jesus said that he is speaking in figures of speech. How can then Bible researchers now, afer 2000 years, know what he meant? They are not illuminated yet. That is why we have irrelevant rituals in Church. We took the metaphorical words of Jesus about his blood and flesh literally and now we consume wafer and wine. (Of course if we believe that it has an effect it will, because mind affects the matter. We could as well believe in a ritual invented by us and it would have the same effect, though).

People tend to accuse God based on what christianity had told them. They disbelieve because God from the Old Testament was vengeful; not understanding that unpleasant, evil things are important part of our existence, they shout at God because they had read he was loving.

My point is that Bible is not the source of knowledge about God.
The source of truth is only you.

Asklepios: Mebb wanted an answer from a BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE! This is what I gave him. Bible verses exist to prove all the claims in my post. Your answer does not help Mebb. Your answer is trying to cast doubt on the Bible with some false claims: (1) You are confused between Religious and Biblical Christianity. (2) The Bible interprets its own parables. (3) The Old and New Testament GOD is the same. (4) The Jehovah's Witnesses have their OWN "bible"(The New World Translation!?). (5) On whose authority do you claim that the "Bible is not the source of knowledge about GOD"?

(25 Jun '10, 23:17) Concerned Citizen

Oh, I didn't see that Mebb wanted an answer from a biblical perspective. My mistake. I am not an expert in Bible so I cannot say anythin in regard to questions from 1 to 4. Concerning 5, I claim it on my own authority. You can see God in Bible, but how do you know this scripture tells you an exact truth? There are many scriptures, many religions, and many of them see God differently. It is good to have a strong faith in your religion, but from the objective perspective, what you know isn't the exact truth.

(26 Jun '10, 10:14) Asklepios

Your question is assuming that the Garden of Eden story is a literal translation. The whole story is allegorical. Unfortunately, as soon as anyone tries to express God and his enlightening communications, it becomes distorted through the language and paradigms of the people. Like Zen or the Tao, it just is and as soon as you put into words to explain it, it isn't that which it is anymore.

Think of Adam, Eve, the snake as a first, conscious, spiritual being descending to the material world. That might help to understand the Garden of Eden story.

you are on the proper course, though adam & eve may just be the two differing vital forces of humankind that need to work in harmony instead of opposition to achive all that we can be. the allegory is on several levels. and yes a story at best, written at a time when mankind thought much differently about his lot in life than we do now. it was never meant to be the dogmatic end all.

I'm not an authority on any religion so I can just share my own perspective on this subject. I do believe that if God had not willed it Satan would not have been able to entice Eve i.e. God wanted us to experience the physical form. Having said that for me Satan is the first negative thought that Eve who was a non-physical being experienced, not some ugly horned physical being.

So why did God want us to come to the physical realm and then give us free choice? What's the fun in perfection? Perhaps God wanted a bit of fun himself? On a more serious note I think God wanted us to experience free will and choice and learn to get back to Him on our own. Being created perfectly and attaining perfection are 2 separate things and I think achieveing Perfection is a nobler route than being created perfectly and God wanted us to truly experience our nobility.

Yes we are doing everything possible to run ourselves into a really deep hole but many of us are now also awakening to the possibilities and the true meaning of being human and I think the number of people will only increase with time till we reach a citical mass. Th messes and the slips we have made along the way are just the usual pitfalls of the evolution and growth process.

To me, my mind, my World, God (Unity) created Man (Adam, Mankind) who was also Unity. Then God split Man into two parts. The first duality, Man and Woman. He gave them freedom, free will and choice. They chose to experience duality.

He said, "If you eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, (duality), you will die." Woman was prompted, and decided to eat of the Tree. Adam was beside her when this happened because she turned to him and offered the apple. Adam gave his tacit approval when she first ate. He did not try to stop her. The knowledge of good and evil was ingested and became part of them.

Duality came into the Garden of Eden, but could not be experienced there. Mankind had to be born on earth to experience duality. When you are born of woman (physical birth), you must die. When you make the choice to be born again, of Spirit, you can return to Unity.

But to return to Unity, you must make the decision. have the understanding, the certainty that Unity - God in whatever aspect you feel drawn to - is more important than the things of this world.

As we gain in Spiritual understanding, we are able to more easily manifest the things we think we desire (the word "desire" comes from "of the Father"). After some time, we realize that the connection to God, to Source, is where we have our Joy. Not in the manifestations.

The manifestations are merely the byproducts of Spiritual understanding. You can have, and are supposed to have a lot of fun in this space-time school. However the most fun is our partnership, our bonding, our desire to become one with God.

When we experience paradox it is because our physical plain understanding of the true Nature of the Universe is limited by our being here in space/time. From God's perspective there are no paradoxes. God is not confused. God does not make mistakes. God's creations do not backfire. We do.

What we experience as evil is not created by God. We experience evil when we distance ourselves from God. We have a feeling of loss, unhappiness caused by our disconnection. God did not cause this. He gave us the choice to experience loss and, also, the choice to experience Him. Completion.

Maybe we are here so God can have a good time through us, lets keep our part of the Bargain. It is what we came here to do. Its wonderful and so are We. A Joyful Journey to a Joyful Destination.

God/Source/Is/Unity is your Soulmate.

Jesus said, "Whoever is close to me is close to the fire, and whoever is far from me is far from the kingdom."

Well, i can tell you that sometimes the related stroy in christianity about the "sin" of Adam and Eve could raise similar inquiries, because they say things like " God found out" , as if He didn't already know before they even attempt to do it. In Islam, we believe that Allah(God) is the All knowing, He knows what a person will do tomorow and even after years to come. Allah , The Exalted, never hesitates or regrets anything because His Will is Full of Wisdom, eventhough some people might fail to grasp that Wisdom, because their knowledge is limited and cannot encompass everything. Allah knows what Pharoah would do when He first created Him, and Allah does not regret creating him because everything that Allah allows to happen is full of wisdom and lies behind it a greater good. If Allah allowed a decree which some might define as a bad thing, it happened surely for a greater good. Allah has decreed that we humanbeings are going to be tested on earth, we were never meant to be in heaven with our Parents Adam and Eve 'just like that', this is the obvious reason why Allah (God) has created us with knowledge and intellegence (the mind) because we were meant to be put into test, we were meant to go through a learning process. Otherwise, what was the use of creating adam with a mind, and gifting the human race with knowledge? Because this was meant for us in the begining. Alhamduli'Allah, praise be to Allah

The original definition of "sin" is "missing the mark." There are consequences, not punishment. If I put my hand on a hot stove, I suffer consequences, not punishment. "Tested" is merely another way of looking at this. Which of our actions lead to pain, ie, missing the mark? God did not put my hand on the hot stove, I did, in ignorance.

@springflower, you seem to be a well-versed intelligent person. As such you know that Christian God and Islamic Allah are the same Being. There are different ways to approach this Being, but it is sheer foolishness to say that "God" is on 'our' side; that 'our way' is the only way.

God, Christ, Allah, Brahma, Buddha, Krishna, are all the same being. God has no theology, mankind does.

God does not take sides. No religion is wrong. What we consider incongruities are merely misunderstandings.

Very good answer springflower, I agree with most of what you said. Don't judge all Christians by a few that are confused. :-)

The real question is why do you think it backfired? And why do you judge God? Are you omnipotent and omniscient? Do you not like to experience life? Since you are not able to answer these questions could it be your ego that sees it that way?

If you have children they will make errors but is it a error to have made them? if you have some children who are pure of heart, would you not save them?

Then can you tell me what is messed up? Is it your understanding? Maybe you did not ask the right questions when thinking of this question? Is it MESSED UP that you exist? Or that humanity exits?

Do you not like anything? Answer these question for yourself and the light of Truth will shine and set you free.

Experience and enjoy.

Dear Mebb, Before we can truly answer this question we have to know what God is and is not. God isn't some being directing the cosmos and humanity, God simply is. God is the spirit of life. God is life.

So lets talk about our human life. Yes we have free choice and therefore are responsible for our own lives and way of living for by our choices we create our own circumstances. Of course our choices are directly atributed to our thinking. Thought therefore is creative.

As for the Bible it is the living word of God writen by men and because man is lible to make mistakes and interpret things through his own humanness it is writen from a human perspective and therefore not perfact. And yes it is written in stories. The Bible has been choped and cut to pieces to suit those in power that wanted control over the populations. It is however still the living word. What I mean by living word is that if one reads it often enough (especailally the new testament) it awakens something within you and you start to get profound answers from within your self. It reveals your truth. Of course your truth doesn't have to be someone elses truth for all have their own truth as God talks to each of us acording to our own understanding. That is the right interpretation of the bible for each must discover Gods word through themselves.

If anyone woul like to try this to discover their own communication with God through their own Christ Consciousness than I sugest you read the New Testament from bigenning to end and if you haven't received insights or knowledge than do it again. Soon you shall get answeres that will astound you and you will realize why they call the Bible the living word of God. If you dont get anything from it than it doesnt mean that God doesnt want to communicate with you it simply means it is not your time yet so be patient for your time will come.

Of course I'm not sayint that it is the only way for I believe that all roads lead to God sooner or later so whatever is right for you or whatever your scriptures are read them and if you are ready you will get answeres too.
