I need this info from all of you with specific answers...I am hoping somebody will supply me with a method that will help change thinking patterns permanently.

I can sustain a good frame of mind only so long, then I slide backwards again and again, and I am sick of it.

I know we attract what we think...I saw God's Mind, for crying out loud, yet something inside of me resists the changes on a permanent level...I wish I knew why. Lord knows, I have tried everything (and I do mean everything)---

But the results don't stick. I do not understand how I can be in the Vortex for a week, and then lose it-BANG-the next.

On a positive note: I feel that something inside of me is surrendering...that I finally am getting it, and at a gut level, and that is good. I realize that I want more of that Good Stuff. Last week was incredible. It was great! What happens? I get sick. I feel lousy. [stomach flu] My thinking is correspondingly "down the toilet" [excuse the terrible pun..I have reason to use that phrase today...LOL].

I hate this cycling, up down, up down stuff.

I just want peace in my head.

Can you relate???

@Jaianniah, I've restored this question that you deleted because there was an answer attached to it from Cory and we don't allow deletion of questions on Inward Quest without the consent of those answering to have their answers deleted too. I appreciate that it may be the case that Cory posted his answer at the same time as you were deleting the question and you were not aware of it.

Thank you for posting this question, I was in a pretty bad vibe yesterday and felt almost exactly as what you're describing but didn't exactly know how to put it into words. I know we can make it, it's just a matter of sticking with the process and trying to be less harsh on ourselves. There's an Abraham monologue, where Esther says something like: "Everything goes right for me, even this negative feeling is an indication that everything goes right for me..." (because of the fact that our...

@Kriegerd- Thanks, it really helps me to know that it's okay to feel "off" now and then...that I guess we all cannot be perfect with this stuff all the time...Your post meant a lot....Jai

I have seen a lot of similarities in quite a few of your questions Jaianniah. Almost as if your are struggling with putting certain things into practice. I can most definitely understand where you are coming from because not all that long ago, I too struggled because of chronic thoughts that I didn't realize I was having.

So I'm going to break your question down and see if we can get to the core of the issue for you. I would really like to help you get where you need to be in mind and spirit, and this feels like the best way I can answer your question.

I need this info from all of you with specific answers...I am hoping somebody will supply me with a method that will help change thinking patterns permanently.

The first feeling I get from that sentence is desperation. You have a "need" for "specific answers" which also implies (for me at least) that you don't either trust in yourself, or you don't trust in yourself using other techniques we have discussed on this site. I get a feeling of resistance, and a consistent thought of looking outside of yourself for answers.

When we discuss things here, the tips and techniques are permission slips that then let us allow ourselves to accept or not accept a certain belief or thought. They are not directly an outside source that are fixing the problem but guides to help us discover our own issues and mold our thoughts and feeling into the right place.

I can sustain a good frame of mind only so long, then I slide backwards again and again, and I am sick of it.

I understand that you are trying to make a point for this question, but I have seen many other questions that you have brought up with a similar tone to this sentence. You are trying to justify where you feel you are right now, and make into who you are all the time. This is a negative affirmation that is probably used in many different variations and you might not even know you are doing it consciously. I used to do it all the time so I understand how frustrating justifying where you currently are can be.

If you would simply grit your teeth for a while and start saying "I can sustain a good frame of mind all the time, and it feels good to know I have the creative power to achieve anything I desire." If you can start saying positive affirmations like that when you first get the initial feeling of negativity, then you will eventually turn it into a habit as long as it's coming from a good feeling place and not an emotion of pressure or having to do it.

something inside of me resists the changes on a permanent level...I wish I knew why

There is not "something" or a "thing" that resists inside of you. There is only you. You have the power to counter that resistance with positive thoughts, emotions, words, and expressions. It is a chronic habit (or choice) of thoughts and feelings that brings about resistance. Which pretty much puts you and you alone in charge.

You don't know why because you aren't used to living chronically in a higher vibration. When you get to that point (and I know you will) it will be easy to look back and realize why you were struggling. Your letting that all to well known "comfort zone" keep you blinded of the true power inside of you.

But the results don't stick. I do not understand how I can be in the Vortex for a week, and then lose it-BANG-the next.

There is something that I heard from Bashar that may explain why this happens. He calls it an "Echo."

He is basically saying that when you go from feeling great (the vortex) to having a bad situation arise, the echo is showing up to see how you respond to your new positive state of being. The echo is there to see if you react in the old negative way, or in your new positive way. Whichever direction you choose is where your dominant vibration truly is.

This whole clip is one of my all time favorites and I highly suggest watching the whole ten minutes. He can explain the concept of the Echo much clearer than I can so here is it is...

Circumstances Don't Matter Only State of Being Matters

I finally am getting it, and at a gut level, and that is good. I realize that I want more of that Good Stuff. Last week was incredible. It was great!

This is an example of a positive affirmation. I know you already know this as well, but I am pointing it out to try and help you understand that you may want to try saying more things similar to this. There is no special method or system out there to be a cure all. It comes down to making it as simple as you possibly can for yourself. Saying positive affiramations like this and letting go of the negative ones will help a lot.

You could record positive affirmations and listen to them when you have time throughout the day. They work pretty well when listening to them before bed and after you wake up in the morning. I also think listening to your own voice is better than somebody else's because you are making that internal connection.

I have benefited tremendously from turning my self talk around. I used to tell myself I was worthless, a loser, ugly, stupid, lazy, no good, anxious, severely depressed, and even suicidal at my lowest point about ten years ago. So I understand how hard it can be to be consistent with good thoughts and feelings, but it can be accomplished because I am in the best mental state of my life by far.

Consistency is the main thing to focus on. Even through pain and negative situations you can think consistent thoughts and try your best to feel good as much as possible. That is the main point Bashar drives home in the above video. When you think you are in that better feeling place, and you are confronted with not so great circumstances, your true power for change depends on how you react to the echo. Your true reflection will be revealed when you can feel good in a negative situation.

Here is a book that has helped me and it may be of value to you.

What to Say When you Talk To Yourself

It's a simple little book that teaches you how to learn new self talk and use it in your everyday life.

To sum it up, the best way to program your brain permanently is to think, feel, and say positive things on a day in and day out permanent basis. Use the techniques and tips on this site and whatever other source that resonates with you and stick with them longer than you normally think you should.

Repetition is the key to changing chronic habits of thought.

I'm sorry for the long post but I hope I could help you in some way. I know deep down you will find the right way that works best for you Jaianniah. Good luck :)

great answer, Cory. I have been doing this consistently for the last 2 years, positive affirmations,mp3s from selected others and my own written collections from various books, audible and silently, to get myself through the grief stage. And I can attest it does work, it just takes time. On days you don't feel like it, do it anyway, force yourself, and you be surprised about the permanent change in you.

@PurpleRose Yes you are right. It takes a meshing of time and repetitive consistency. I started my whole personal growth process back in June of 2008. It's now late February 2012 and I can say that I finally "get it!" Through a lot of those years I felt like I was just going through the motions and wasn't getting the results I wanted, and it felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. Consistency paid off though, and I feel better than ever. It just comes down to how badly we really want to change.

@Cory- Great, great post! This is ironic, because I just talked about this in counseling today. I CAN just BE, and I DETERMINE by my thoughts how I experience reality...I had an echo today, and I flunked, but now I see that I DID NOT "flunk", because I refused to accept the "old way" once again. All the above comments were also very helpful..I will try it! The Bashar clip was great. It helped me see what I was doing...I just need to flip everything around. Thanks! Jai

Cory, the video of Bashar you shared is brilliant, I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks you.

(23 Feb '12, 03:37) Benjamin

@Jaianniah Usually the first stage of overcoming the echo is to notice how and when you are responding to it. You have already passed that test, so now you should be able to overcome and understand the scenario if it presents itself in the future. If you stay consistent with your positive responses, things will turn around faster than you may think. Continue you to give yourself credit for noticing things like this because they become very powerful for positive mental reinforcement.

(23 Feb '12, 11:57) Cory

@Benjamin You are welcome Benjamin. Like I mentioned in my answer above, that Bashar clip is one my all time favorites. I have watched it numerous times because the information for me is so very powerful.

@Cory-Thanks, this is a great and very helpful answer.I have this book you mention. The positive self-talk is so effective and something I always overlooked. Regarding Affirmations what is your view on them. The answers I have read here on IQ mostly say an affirmation has to feel good to be effective.I don't recall the author of this book refer much about the feeling of the affirmation, but more towards repetition......

(26 Jul '12, 14:26) Satori

@Cory-I know a positive affirmation will always resonate with us at a deeper level. What I'm saying is if an affirmation feels good, why would we need to say it,if we recognise it as the truth? Thanks:)

(26 Jul '12, 14:27) Satori

@Satori I'm glad you found some value in my answer. Sometimes, for certain individuals, repetition helps to build up our belief systems as to what we truly feel is our own personal truth. This was the case for me. It took me quite a while to understand the concept of the feeling place when focusing on something I wanted or desired. Even starting out with consistent repetition while not focusing on the feeling helped aim me in the right direction...

(26 Jul '12, 16:02) Cory

@Satori Then once I was facing in the right direction learning to add a good feeling, along with a strong belief, it just helped to accelerate my growth even more.

I've been listening to Bashar quite a bit recently. I even got a few surprise gifts from the Bashar website for my Birthday and just watched a dvd last night. He always seems to bring up how we define something. What is our definition on a current subject? Do we like the definition that has been handed down to us over the years?

(26 Jul '12, 16:06) Cory

@Satori It's all about changing the definition of the subject we are focusing on. This is something that has really opened up for me recently. Everything is just simply neutral until we define it the way we choose to define it. Nothing has built in meaning. Especially when it comes to affirmations. If we get excitement out of a particular statement and truly realize anything we desire can be true for us, then the universe must make it so. We are in total control of what is and isn't true.

(26 Jul '12, 16:10) Cory

@Cory-Thanks for the reply. You've cleared things up for me here.Every subject is neutral until we define it.Interesting, something I thought I knew but never really pondered.Your saying Affirmations and positive Self-Talk can get us heading the right way and eventually build a momentum..At the very least they will dispel negative-self talk which make a big difference alone for me.

(26 Jul '12, 17:25) Satori

@Cory-Bashar is great.Anything I've heard from him resonates with me.That link you have there about the "Echo" is fantastic, everyone should watch that one.I wish I had seen that a few years ago, thank you:)

Jai, as another friend of Bill W, I can remember. Re-read the Steps. You have a clear plan. Follow it. It leads to yourSelf.

I also suggest that you spend time in the moment. There is no force, there is no "screw your courage to the sticking point" there is no "grab the bull by the horns" -- it does not work.

I find that being "against" something is as close as you can get. It seems antithetical to me to say "give up resistance." Antithetical and impotent and inefficient.

It is not a matter of countering negative thoughts with positives, it IS a matter of filling your life with good things. Sometimes when I get grumpy, I am sitting stuck in traffic and the stuff is building. The negative thoughts come swarming in. I look at the brilliance of the tail lights in front of me. The palpable red glow in scintillating bits of light. Now see the shiny cars all around. The glory of the clouds. The magnificence of the sky. The overwhelming beauty of creation. The myriad scents in the air. And the traffic is gone. Today I went from north Atlanta to south Atlanta, nearly 15 miles in the five o'clock rush. We never got below 50 mph. Never changed lanes. It just opened up and my wife and I went through, reveling in the joy.

My world, fellow traveler, can be your world also. Fill your world with light. It takes some focus, and being in the here and now. Keep your mind full of red taillights, clouds, soft rain, puppies, Wade, It is simpler than it seems, but different.

Please also know that I am nowhere near perfect. Wouldn't be here if I was. In fact, I would not have been able to even see your question if there were not some of me in it.

I see you as a very powerful person. A smart, bright person. A caring person. In my world, you are past the question you asked. You are floating. You have all the joy you sought in the wrong places and you have so many rght places that those other places don't exist anymore. When you turn on the light, you don't have darkness. Don't fight the darkness, turn on the light. It is what you came here to do. You know that! You are exactly where you planned to be and you are doing extremely well. There is great love here for you.

You are not asking the right question, dear. You should be asking WHY. If you answer this question; the how will follow. Most people decide they are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired and they CHOOSE to change. You haven't made the choice yet. Why? I could tell you what the reason is for most people; but you aren't like most people.. After reading your RAGE & PTSD questions; I'm not sure if your there yet - 50 years of trauma. You need to be ready to hear the answer. Be patient; you're almost there. I'm trying to locate something which I know will "assist" you; I'm still searching - it's no longer available - I guess because it was cassette tapes & evidently they never produced it on a CD. The book is still in print; but it's not the same

@Wade Casaldi I did locate the tapes on Friday; but it was after business hours. I planned on placing an order on Monday & having it shipped directly to you. I thought if I searched online; I could find your business address. However; after reading Jai's recent answers & her newest question & then reading her Rage answer again; I honestly think it will be of absolutely NO value to her. I'm sorry. continued

Accept the fact that you can never find peace 100% of the time. Because if you do not know what chaos is like in your life, how would you know how peace is like? It is the same analogy as if you do not know darkness, how would you know how light is like?

I don't get what you are currently trying to manifest in your life, but I am sure if you take the time to sit in a quiet corner, you would probably realize that you have actually manifested quite a number of amazing things in your life since you joined IQ.

I'm like you too, I probably am typing this from a neutral state at the moment but maybe tomorrow I might see this answer and not even know this was actually written by me..

I am a man of logic and my brain "needs" solid answers.....Eg: When you injure yourself and you are standing there bleeding and in pain and you need solid medical answers NOW!! I don't have patience to listen to people who say "Oh, be patient, you'll heal!" or "lets analyze what exactly you're saying".........."I'm in pain NOW and I need help NOW!"

A thought becomes reality when emotions have been connected with it because "YOU" have entertained that thought in your mind, and other thoughts with their emotions have become connected with it the more you think of, and entertain it, in your mind....now it's a whole mess of thoughts and emotions that are giving you a good experience or a chaotic one.

So this is my technique, reversing the process: getting rid, or neutralizing, the emotions attached to a thought. I use the EFT tapping technique....it really works...."REALLY"

Here's a link to a great teacher Brad Yates, he will walk you through the process, just follow what he does, it's very easy. Depending on the intensity of what your experiencing, it can take a few sessions "lather, rinse, and repeat!" Brad has alot of video's so you can choose the one that best suits your experience.
