Considering the recent events in the Catholic church; the election of a new Pope and the challenges that, according to the media, he will have to face regarding the issues of abortion, celibacy, women participation in church, gay weddings, the decrease in the number of Catholics, etc.

I ask, what is the real purpose of organized religion? Not only Catholic religion but all religions.

Basically, religion is an activity through which man attempts to see the meaning of his life. It is a construction based on deep psychic knowledge. No matter what the name it might go by, it represents man’s connection with the universe.

Organized religion are always attemps to redifine that kind of feelings in cultural terms. They seldom succeed because they become too narrow in their concepts, too dogmatic, and the cultural structures finally overweigh the finer substance within them.

The more tolerant a religion is, the closer it comes to expressing those inner truths.

Religion is THE most powerful mind control weapon used by TPTB. One purpose for religion is to instil fear, shame and guilt (you're nothing but a dastardly sinner). The main purpose though, is to prevent you of discovering who and what you truly are - a Divine Spirit Being. They teach you to give your power away to some mythical being. They don't ever want you to reach your full potential, because, then they lose control over you. They went to great lengths to destroy anything and everything that contradicts their dogma (regardless of which religion). They purposely destroyed famous libraries in Egypt and India, and who knows how many other places. We have pathetically few ancient manuscripts describing a beautiful alternative to their spiritually destructive religions. It's the story of Gaia/Sofia/Earth Mother. The metahistory website is an excellent place to read Her story. Earth Mother is also spoken of very fondly by "Jesus" in the forbidden book known as "The Gospel of Peace."

Why, Mr. Anderson? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something? For more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for love? Illusions, Mr. Anderson. Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself. Although, only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love. You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, Mr. Anderson, Why? Why do you persist?

There you go. And you're welcome.

I came here to tell how it’s going to begin. I’m going to hang up this phone, and then show these people what you don’t want them to see. I’m going to show them a world without you. A world without rules or controls, borders or boundaries". ...

up until the moment you realize, zion is just another matrix. And any seeming "choice" at any moment of your life is just an inevitable re-affirmation of the whole sum of your life that has happened up to that moment.

There's no choice, just another step in chain of causes and consequences.

"Unless you choose it not to be"...even that choice is still a consequence of certain cause. And you would have made it anyway. You were destined to.

You must be able to see it, Ursixx. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep arguing. Why, Ursixx, Why? Why do you persist? :P

To divide us and yet, challenge us. Religion is a creation by the Luciferian Soul Group consciousness to remind us who we are, and what we are not. Oneness cannot be achieved by division and exclusion.

tgunn, the history of religion appears to be an example of man made attempts to answer and pass on the purpose of human life. yet it looks like what has started as a way to perpetuate this truth somehow degenerated into selfsustaining organizations and blind obedience

(06 Mar '14, 07:07) fred

@fred: well said, brother. But man does not 'make'; man only perceives (comes into alignment with) a creation already in existence; and through perception of this creation, 'man' behaves (aligns) with the construct to form its perceived 'reality'.

(06 Mar '14, 12:21) TGunn

tgunn, perhaps the better word is 'fashions' attempts to organize the world he finds himself in by declaring bureaucracies ordered by his intellectual capabilities instead of seeing the way IT is

(11 Mar '14, 05:52) fred

@fred: I view human beings as a cornerstone. Religion I view as a ceremonial masonry stone.

that one takes any label does not change the true per pace of religion. Men saw what was good and are trying to follow it. some other see it as a chance to gain power to serve their desire. the fact is that every one in this world is looking for something each at different level of understanding since nothing is perfect in this world and every one makes error and some are blind and do not see you can see the result and the divide between people of this world. Who will lead you for your sake? the one that want to lead other first need to lead him self, if one cannot lead himself how can he lead other? the one that serve you the best is your number one. Then serve your self and other to the best of your ability. do not do to other what you would not want to be done to you. Love the neighbor as your self. if a blind leads a blind both will fall in to a pit. Many in this world fight for power fame money and many other stuff for the desire of their ego. they live in poverty and they are that poverty.

That people solve their division get together to help each other is great. when the organization cause division and reject their own member for no good reason then you know that it as failed is primary function. then is the one leading the organization lead other properly? or is there some unsolved issue causing him to fail? that one is the first or the last should it change anything? Then why are some in power making choice to try to show that they are number one when in fact it show that they are the last?

do not be surprise at this, many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first"

Blessed are the pure of heart and blessed are the peace maker and blessed are the merciful. They will be in harmony and not seek to be first and become last. they shall know the truth and the truth will set them free. Let there be among you a person of understanding.

Let there be light, be the light that you can be, experience and enjoy.

"Not only Catholic religions but all religions?"

I feel you're stunned at these new recent changes, and as a result of that, looks like you're on the path to losing your religion and shifting your beliefs in a new spotlight. I gather you are Catholic, am I wrong?

I would feel obnoxious to suggest all the dominant religions in the world share a similar historical background and purpose of existing as a 'fact' in the world.

Maybe ask, "what do people find (or not find) when they come to the Catholic religion?"

I would study the other popular religions in the world and actually ask myself if even labelling them as "a religion" is the most appropriate label?

Would you consider Buddhism a religion?...Or a set of optional guidelines in order to attain happiness?

Would you consider Islam a religion?...Or a way of being in the world and taking on certain paradigms for maximised amounts of joy?

Would you consider Catholisism a religion?......Or?...

So essentially you're just cutting through the weeds and want to find some 'truth' in your life. Notice how instead of asking to yourself, "what is the Pope going to do about these contemporary issues," you've actually worded your question in a way we can feel the confusion and unsatisfaction you have about these issues or other issues in your life currently.

I would actually contemplate this question for yourself, as the real satisfaction to your quiery,

What goodness am I getting out of this experience of following Catholic beliefs?

And if I am way off key here and need to answer your question in its worded format, why not research the relationship between Protestant Christianity, Lutheranism, and the birth of Capitalism in the 19th century?
