Possible duplicate: Why do so many people believe the world is going to end in 2012?

Just wondering about this. I have seen a lot of questions about this year. Where did all this fear originate?

Peace,

Jai

I believe it originated it the mistaken belief that we can know when the end of the world will come. Archeologist that found the Mayan calendar found that it ended on 2012 in December that is the end of the calendar. When they saw this they had jumped to the conclusion that (along with their belief that time is liner) since that was the end of the calendar it was also the end of the world.

To get this conclusion requires a presupposition of a believed coming occurrence, this belief put a subjective light on the fact that the Mayan calendar ends on that date. In other words they attached a subjective meaning to this finding that has nothing to do with the finding. If however they had found Mayan text that said, "Right here on this date 2012 December the world is going to end." then in that case they may have something to base their claim on. However simply jumping to the conclusion that the world will end on 2012 because the calendar ends 2012 is not very scientific and not at all objective of what was really found.

I believe that FEAR is an emotion just like all the others, looking for an avenue of expression. 2012 is just an excuse upon which this emotion landed.

The person who is afraid of the events of 2012 will be afraid of many other things besides this.

possible origination: the pole shift theory, the north pole melting theory, the sun going super nova theory, the wormwood cometh theory, the human self destruction theory. all those have a little bit of truth. but why fear should we not use our free will and make the correct choice? experience and enjoy.

it was a negative entity that Edgar Casey had come through him because of negative associations of the criticism he had got, it was one that explained pole shift. THAT was where it all began.
